Retirement from the daily grind and hustle of life sounds life-affirming. While some may assert that retirement helps the overworked bones to unwind, for others, it is about turning over a new leaf. The same can be asserted for NASCAR drivers, who start their life behind the wheel as early as their teenage years. However, for veteran driver Kevin Harvick, retirement is a myth.

Although Harvick has mostly kept to himself about his pre-retirement experience, positive reaffirmation as he steps into his retirement life is quite evident from the pre-race interview ahead of the New Hampshire race. 

Kevin Harvick discloses his plans post-retirement from professional racing

Before the Cup Series began, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick had announced that he is ready to hang up his helmet and bow out from the tracks of NASCAR. The news had struck a chord among NASCAR enthusiasts as well as the insiders of the sport, as they would be missing out on an active voice in the garage area. 

Nevertheless, the thought of watching the dark horse from the booths of FOX as an analyst seemed to bring respite among the fans. While the thought of not racing professionally is a sad state of affairs for fans, Harvick, on the contrary, is willing to oblige it. He is more than happy to start the next chapter of his life. 

He expressed to the media, “Well, everybody’s done everything for me for my whole entire racing career. So, it’s fun to be involved on a daily basis in sales and marketing and all the things that come with a retail business.

“So that’s really more because of a relationship, and for me to give something to do but. I have learned that Dale Jr warned me at this, that I would be busier when I go out of the car than when I was inside the car because in the car you have an excuse to not do things.

“Out of the car, you have no excuse not to do anything, so I am learning that quickly. But I will have control over my schedule after I get done with the first half with FOX as far as what I do on weekends, but during the week, I have to work. My wife would kill me if I didn’t work. If I was home every day, I would be a big problem. We would have way too many projects going on,” Harvick asserted.

Life after retirement for NASCAR drivers is everything but a bed of roses. It is beyond comprehension, how hectic the schedule becomes. Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner’s hectic schedule shocks Marco Andretti

In an interview with the media, ahead of the SRX Racing, the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing provided a glimpse into his busy life as he charted out the schedule for the upcoming week. Stewart disclosed,

“Flying back up at Eldora for the King’s Royal on Saturday night, and then, when that’s (done), fly out to Denver, Colorado for the last race at Bandimere Speedway in Denver, and like Havasu for half a day, go and work stuff, and then, I gotta fly to Charlotte for a day of work so…”

Listening to Stewart’s schedule, Marco Andretti asked whether he was actually retired or not. The Hall of Famer retorted, “I am the dumbest person you have ever seen when it comes to retirement, I am telling you.”

Post-retirement Kevin Harvick is set to join the FOX booth and also has to manage his KHI Management, which already looks tedious in nature. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to watch how the veteran adjusts to his life, post-racing and embarking on a new journey in life.
