If there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it is that COTA was a chaotic race, maybe too chaotic for its own good. The race was full of wrecks, little incidents, big incidents, cautions, and so on. But there was one incident that went relatively unnoticed. It involved Kyle Larson. And it was brought to everyone’s attention by Denny Hamlin.

Kind of.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver and the Hendrick Motorsports driver had a coming together earlier in the race as the #11 spun out the #5. In another incident between the two in which Hamlin wasn’t as directly involved, Larson was wrecked by 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace.

But the incident Hamlin pointed to after the race didn’t involve either him or his driver.

Denny Hamlin hints at criticism of Kyle Larson in his new podcast episode

In a clip from the race posted by a fan on Twitter, Kyle Larson can be seen entering a turn, braking late, and hitting Ryan Blaney while also compromising the turn of Erik Jones right in the mix. “Kyle Larson just bulldozed through Jones and Blaney,” the fan wrote.

It was specifically this clip that Hamlin picked to give the fans a bit of a teaser into the major talking points of his new podcast episode of Actions Detrimental.

“We talked a lot about wrecks today on ADDH. Had to call some folks out too. Podcast coming later this afternoon,” Hamlin tweeted over the Larson video. “Fine print: I spun the 47 yesterday.”

Hamlin’s podcast comments have got him into trouble already

After he admitted to intentionally wrecking Ross Chastain in Phoenix, Denny Hamlin was slapped with a huge penalty by NASCAR. And it was precisely his comments on the podcast which led to this as per Elton Sawyer, NASCAR’s Senior Vice President of Competition.

According to NBC Sports, before Hamlin’s podcast comments, NASCAR officials were looking at the incident as “a racing incident.” However, when Hamlin got on his podcast and admitted that he intentionally did something “that would compromise the results” of the race, that they had to do something.

“That rises to the level that we’re going to get involved,” he added.
