Speaking in an interview during the race at Circuit of The Americas, Chase Elliott joined the FOX broadcasting booth for a few minutes and gave fans a glimpse of the insights he communicated to Jordan Taylor. Elliott opened up on the fact that what he said to Taylor might not be agreeable for some, but to him, it makes sense.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver has been sidelined for the last few weeks after suffering an injury during a snowboarding incident. His team announced he’d be replaced by Josh Berry at ovals and Jordan Taylor at COTA.
So after Berry’s turn in the #9 in the last few weeks, it was Taylor’s turn in Austin. And Elliott revealed what he told the IMSA SportsCar Championship driver.

Still hard to believe that's me in there. Having a blast. Honored to be representing Chase and the whole Hendrick organization. Hopefully making them proud along with my Sportscar community. Can't wait for the fight tomorrow. https://t.co/d10GhMB9cD

Chase Elliott opens up on the way he’s trying to help Jordan Taylor
During the race in COTA, Elliott was asked by Mike Joy of FOX Sports about the kind of advice he can give to someone like Jordan Taylor, someone who is used to winning, but is new to the type of racing such as in NASCAR.
“It’s tough. I think from my perspective, I’ve just tried to probably say too much just in case something dumb, that I say, happens. I would rather give him too much information and just one of those things click in his mind,” he said.
“I did run the Rolex 24 a couple of years ago, so some of those things, I do feel like the cars are very different, I think anything I can do to say, ‘Hey this was a big hitter for me,’ or me transitioning to those cars, let’s think about it the other way, How can I help you in this direction?”

Elliott added that he’s been giving as much information as he possibly can. “I’ve been super in-tune with his comments and post-practice meetings, and post-qualifying meetings,” he claimed.

Elliott thinks he’s probably been talking “too much” to Jordan Taylor
Having opened up on the dynamic he’s sharing with Jordan Taylor, Chase Elliott once again emphasized that he’s been “talking a lot.”
“Probably too much,” he added.
“I’m sure a lot of it doesn’t make sense to him, probably doesn’t make sense to anybody but me. But it’s just in hopes that one or two little things might stick and could make a difference today,” he added.

Elliott claimed he’d rather give Taylor “too much information” and him not listening to 99% of it, but that 1% help, rather than the other way around. “I feel like it was worth it,” he added.
