There are millions of NASCAR enthusiasts throughout the globe, but the sport also has its detractors—the large crowds, the investments made in the sport, and the fact that they believe the motorsport is overhyped, to name a few. However, those who are really devoted to the sport spare no effort in keeping themselves abreast of its latest news and developments.

Recently, stand-up comic Ben Brainard came under the radar of NASCAR fans after he mocked the Chicago Street race. He also uploaded a clip on YouTube, to which viewers had varying reactions.

But it was his most recent NASCAR video that went viral, drawing attention from NASCAR supporters and detractors alike. The video features the comedian ridiculing the NASCAR event that took place in Chicago, owing to the difficulties he faced in the city on the first weekend of July because of the series. He thought the whole thing was so terrible that even applause was inappropriate, saying, Don’t f**king clap for them. Don’t.”

He added, “There’s a bunch of people got together and say, ‘Hey, What’s the worst thing we could possibly do?’ and they say, ‘Put a bunch of cars that go real fast in downtown Chicago on Saturday before July 4th. How about that?’ It was so bad, you guys got rid of the mayor a month later; that’s how bad it was.”

Although some users found his routine entertaining, many others strongly disagreed with it. Numerous viewers shared their thoughts in the comments section of the video.

Jokes on you, it was a fuckin hit! It was beautiful, a magical event, even if the rain tried its damnedest to stop it,” one said, while another added, “That Chicago NASCAR race was friggin’ awesome!”

However, the ones who supported the comedian’s viewpoints stated,

“I wanna watch this entire stent, I need the full show,” “New rider: No nascar,” “Would like to hear about other ways cities have made you feel at home!”

This isn’t the first time comedians took a dig at NASCAR.

For instance, one of Jeff Foxworthy’s YouTube videos is dedicated to NASCAR, and in it, he claimed that race fans often argue about which drivers they like and dislike.

Not only that, but he said, “A lot of NASCAR fans don’t like Jeff Gordon because he enunciates. And there is not a place in NASCAR for that kind of stuff.

Moreover, John Crist, a comedian, also made fun of NASCAR by posting a video on Twitter in which he pokes fun at the drivers’ responses to various interview questions. Crist made sure to smuggle in sponsors at a Michael Waltrip-like speed, befitting a genuine racer. Crist truly got us when he said, “I just looked up and saw that blue sky sponsored by Jesus and thought this was a great day for racing.
