Now that the 2024 season is officially right around the corner, the community is finally getting a good idea of which teams seem to be on the front foot and which are yet to catch up. The Busch Light Clash saw Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing top the time sheets throughout the event while Stewart-Haas Racing had a dismal start to the new year.

So it’s safe to say it would be in the best interest of those looking to place bets on the Cup Series this season to take a closer look at the probable winners that are expected to take away the title. But if you’re one of the risky few who like to shake things up, it would be best to take a look at the least likely winners with the biggest returns after the Clash at the Coliseum.

NASCAR reveals the long shots for the 2024 Cup Series

During NASCAR’s latest edition of Easy Money with E, Erica Davis, the resident sports betting analyst, revealed her favorite picks amongst the long odds that could surprise the crowd at Daytona on February 18. She stated, “With long-shot picks, there’s not a perfect way to hedge these, I mean after all, that’s why they are actually long-shot picks. But I’m just gonna give you three to you know make it fun.”

Kicking things off with Bubba Wallace, it’s no surprise that the 23XI Racing driver Erica Davis’ list. After all, the pressure is higher than ever on Blaney’s best friend to come up with an answer to the major upset last season. She added, “He made it to the round of 12 last year before getting eliminated. This could maybe be the year that you know, this is his year to actually win and get into the championship four. He’s at +3000 right now.”

With a return of +3000 on a 100-dollar bet, fans could walk home rather elated if Wallace indeed pulls one out of the bag and wins the Great American Race. But if that isn’t enough of an uncertainty, why not double the risk and the reward? Josh Berry is all set to take over Kevin Harvick’s seat at Stewart-Haas Racing. And as the driver of the only SHR team that made it to the playoffs, the pressure is higher than ever.

Still, if we witness another Big One and Josh Berry manages to squeeze past, who knows what could happen? The one thing we do know is that betting on Berry could return riches far beyond expectations. Erica Davis stated, “Then there’s Josh Berry with +6500, if there’s one rookie to watch, it would be Berry.” But even with all the odds against him, Berry is still not the longest odd by far.

Davis concluded her list by adding the most uncertain prospect of them all. She stated, “Finally, (there is) Michael McDowell with +20000. He had one win last year and granted, this is a super super long shot. So just know guys that this bet is more about just covering our bases in the event that McDowell ends up catching heat this year.” With Davis summing it up perfectly herself, it will take more than just a miracle for McDowell to win the Cup Championship.

So while Davis laid out all the longest odds for the risk takers to analyze, the favorites for the Cup title may turn out to be better prospects for those with a lower risk appetite.

On the other hand, if we are considering how things unfolded at the Coliseum, Denny Hamlin’s +700 to +800 odds could also result in a sweet return for those betting on the 23XI owner. William Byron is also rated highly after multiple wins in 2023 cemented the Hendrick Motorsports driver as a competent force to bet on in 2024.

Last but certainly not least, no driver is looking forward to a bigger year than Kyle Larson.
