As one of NASCAR’s most successful female drivers, Danica Patrick has pushed the envelope in more than a few avenues. Still, her zero-tolerance policy toward putting up with other drivers has resulted in the formation of more than a few enemies and critics. Fast forward to 2024, and this blunt nature may have backfired once more after Danica appeared on the Kenny Wallace show and dissected her disapproval of Martin Truex Jr’s relationship.

Still, there’s a reason behind the 42-year-old’s confidence in speaking her truth, even if it may rub some the wrong way. Throughout her career, Danica Patrick has dealt with adversity at every turn. Despite fans of her on-track enemies questioning her side of the story constantly, Patrick feels there’s only so much restraint one can have against those that fuel the fire.

In a recent episode of the Kenny Conversation, fans were treated to an hour-long deep-dive into the life of Danica Patrick. Whilst the pair went through all the ups and downs of her career, Patrick had brought up her issues with Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, and Truex Jr. She felt that some drivers like Logano treated her differently off track, whilst some were just not courteous enough. Still, Patrick maintained her patience throughout it all, speaking her mind when most were afraid to.

So while some might think Danica Patrick has some animosity reserved for everyone, that isn’t the case at all. The 42-year-old spoke highly of her sister and their childhood together, prompting Kenny Wallace to highlight a side of Patrick that fans do not get to witness often. Wallace stated, “When you were talking so nice about your sister there, I like to have people around that add to my positive energy, I don’t want to have people around that I have to fix all the time.”

Referring to Danica Patrick’s honest nature, Wallace supported the idea of laying out all your cards on the table, no matter how unfavorable they might be. So when Wallace pointed out that “It gets exhausting fixing negative people,” Patrick chimed in immediately. She stated, “And picking negative people up. It does. And until you’re some enlightened Buddha where you have no nothing, I’m not one of them.”

As Patrick pointed out that she loved to be in the presence of those who had a positive effect on everyone like Kenny Wallace, it wasn’t possible in all scenarios. She concluded, “You know, you can definitely lift people up. When I see you, you automatically lift my energy and lift my spirits up. Love seeing you, love talking to you right now, but in person is even better. Some people do that, but at some point in time, enough always is enough. People can get to you, and there is only so much in the bucket.”

Although it’s safe to say Danica Patrick is certainly staying true to herself and not transitioning into an ‘enlightened’ Buddha, the 42-year-old has a keen interest in the spiritual world, which she discussed further with Wallace.

Speaking of the Enlightened Buddha, Kenny Wallace pointed out the ‘body and mind’ journey that Danica Patrick seemed to have embarked on ever since giving up full-time racing. Even throughout the podcast, Patrick had a level of emotional depth that fans had previously been in the dark about. Naturally, the media was now curious to know how Patrick had such a transition, and if she was now ‘mending’ her ways in sorts. So what was the reality behind the change from intense fights to calm conversations?

Patrick stated, “It’s funny because anytime I talk to somebody in an interview or after racing, they go like, ‘Wow! You’ve really gotten into this like, you’re really deep. Is this new?’ It’s not. But where was the time and space and need for it in a 3 or 7-minute interview here and there along the way, when we’re referring to something that just kind of happened on track? There really wasn’t a lot of space for it.”

Now that Patrick has reduced her involvement in any incidents that cause such chaos, the 42-year-old’s personality has had the time to shine. With the conversation now revolving around her life away from racing, Patrick is quickly changing notions all around the grid. She shared with Wallace, “Now, it has had time to develop into a bigger thing for me, and more awareness and more knowledge and more embodiment about the things I’m always curious about. But it has always been there.”

Patrick also revealed her interest in the spiritual and supernatural world with a hilarious memory; “I refer to this story of calling a psychic when I was 18 for my birthday. I’ve just always been into that kind of stuff. I’ve been into the universe and spirituality, religion has always been something interesting for me.”
