Atlanta Motor Speedway supplied the fireworks for the week. The quality of the racing was truly worth noting, despite NASCAR once again shortening the race on the 185th lap. Where the Hendrick Motorsports prodigy William Byron claimed a series-high fourth win, fending off competition from Daniel Suarez, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was seen appreciating the association’s decision to shorten the racing for the second time in a row.

Expressing his pleasure over a successful race, Dale Jr., one of the more vocal superstars in the industry, was seen addressing concerns over rain affecting the quality of racing.

“That was great racing tonight. As edgy as the cars were on a dry track, couldn’t restart it with sprinkles on the track. Woulda been Daytona all over again. Along with the rain came a ton of lightning within 8 miles. Right call to end it. No one loves it. I don’t love it. But right call.” tweeted Earnhardt.

Atlanta Motor Speedway had been under renovation for two years. Over time, there have been improvements in the track limits. The venue currently looks to become one of the tracks to host two races a year. Talking about his experience at the course, which runs back to the days before he commenced racing, Dale Earnhardt says,

“I can not wait to come back here again. I have wanted Atlanta to be great and appreciated for so long. I came here as a kid for decades, loving all the success dad had here. Loved winning a race myself here. But the stands have been empty for some time now. Finally, we have reason to be excited about racing and big crowds at a track that I was worried we may lose forever.”

Earnhardt is a previous winner in Atlanta and Daytona, two out of 6 Cup race wins in 2004. This opinion has received a great response from the fanbase, as the general opinion about the track looks to be changing.

With the weekend ensuring a lovely racing experience for the fans, talks of it as a playoff venue have increased. The on-track battles include the tussle between Michael McDowell, AJ Allmendinger, and Daniel Suarez for control over the odium places available after Byron. One of the fans on Twitter talked about Atlanta, changing his perspective on it completely this season. Well, that’s only right if it keeps producing such races every time NASCAR comes here.

“Great race on a great track. We all know the rules, can’t race on a high speed oval in the rain. No problems here.” said a fan affirming Junior’s statement.

“To me that was the epitome of what Cup racing is all about. The adrenaline was pumping throughout the entire race. It was disappointing that the full race could not have been ran because I feel there were still so many exciting changes in positions to come. U did great!” claimed a fan unhappy about the circumstances cutting the race short.

“AMAZING racing. I loved every second. Just hate they don’t start a little earlier in the day when the threat of weather was clear. It’s too good of a race not to try and get it all in. That point aside, just amazing stuff on the track all night long. So exciting!”

Most of the comments showed that ever since their added focus on improving the facilities of the track, NASCAR’s efforts have paid off.
