Thanksgiving, the celebration of the harvest and other blessings of the past year, also brings an opportunity for good food and mood. Be it stuffed turkeys or potato salads, seasonal delicacies are a common phenomenon. However, for NASCAR drivers, it looks like choosing their favorite Thanksgiving food has become a big dilemma. While Trackhouse Racing Team driver Ross Chastain is a huge fan of the festivities, Chase Elliott has not found any joy in the cooking department.

With the opportunity to gather opinions from various drivers, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell’s choice of food to denounce on the Thanksgiving menu was the stuffing inside the turkey. But being the foodie he is, Bell’s opinion didn’t sit well with the Cup Series season finale winner.

What is Ross Chastain’s favorite Thanksgiving food?

In a video from last year that NASCAR on NBC recently uploaded, Ross Chastain highlighted that he has never had a forgettable Thanksgiving experience. “Thanksgiving is a great day. I’ve never found a bad one.“ said the 30-year-old. 2018 and 2022 Cup Series champion Joey Logano had a clear answer as he named his preferred choice of flavor as a side on Thanksgiving.

While Logano stated, “Cranberry sauce.” On the other hand, Chase Elliott looked bland as he implied that his cooking skills were not up to par, as reflected in his awkward silence in the answer. The 2020 Cup champion claimed, “I’m not a very good cook.”

On another note, No. 20 driver Christopher Bell began by naming his most hated dish among the special recipes for Thanksgiving. It took him some time to recall his most disliked aspect of the dinner table. However, with some help, he eventually concluded.

Ross Chastain’s reply to it was as crude as he is on the race track: “No. They’re too picky. I love food.” It looks like the disagreement between NASCAR drivers has yet to stay within the track premises and might have spilled onto the festival celebrations. Joey Logano downplayed Chastain’s effort at Phoenix a few days ago by questioning the motive behind his win.

Ross Chastain made history at Phoenix Raceway. Ever since the introduction of the elimination-based playoffs in 2014, no non-championship driver has been able to win in the season finale. In the 2023 Championship 4 race, Chastain was the driver who shone brighter than all the championship contenders. Standing in front of champion Ryan Blaney, he defended his lead with aggression and zeal.

However, Blaney’s partner and the 2022 champion Logano have recently spoken about the hindrance that non-playoff drivers create in a race. To him, qualified drivers have much more important agendas to serve, and winning is the goal of every qualified driver’s aspirations. Speaking on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, he said,

“For every team, a win is huge in the regular season. For a playoff team, a playoff win is huge. If you’re not in the playoffs, it is not that big of a deal. When you go to those races, your alliances and how everybody works together is a way toward the playoff guy. I think it takes something away from the speed of racing.”

Chastain’s performance in the finale was quite unexpected. Having led only one lap in the nine races before it, the Trackhouse driver changed gears on the most auspicious occasions. For Trackhouse Racing, it has been a testament to the team’s growth and one more historic achievement. However, for Team Penske, it was a missed opportunity at a complete dominance of the evening.
