How Kyle Larson’s 2021 NASCAR Heroics Put Him at a Massive Disadvantage for the LA Coliseum Clash

The much-anticipated Busch Clash at the Coliseum is finally around the corner. Albeit an exhibition race that is aimed to springboard NASCAR into a whole new future with a whole new audience in a whole new venue, it shouldn’t be forgotten that it’s still a race. And naturally, there will be a qualifying session. But the regulations surrounding it could upset the 2021 champion, Kyle Larson.

This is because according to the regulations for the Clash, the teams that finished on top in last season’s playoff will all but surely be at a disadvantage in qualifying.

Journalist Bob Pockrass wrote in his tweet, “qualifying order for the Clash will be off the final 2021 Cup owner points (worst to first) … qualifying will be two timed laps with the best lap time being used to determine order for the heats.”

Kyle Larson is looking forward to the Clash in his home state

The Hendrick driver, who is from Elk Grove in California, recently expressed his excitement for the Clash in his home state. “It’s going to be a great event and a great time,” he said.

Larson also described how he is not enjoying his off-season at all. “I did not enjoy not racing,” he said. But now he is happy that the 2022 season is about to begin, a season in which he’ll be immersed until the end of the year.

“I’m glad racing season is back, and I’ll be wide open until the end of November.”

Yet, despite his heroics in the 2021 season, Kyle Larson could start his 2022 season from the back.

In spite of that, those who saw Kyle Larson in the last season will know, that no matter where he starts from, he has the talent, the skill, and the car to always be in contention of a win.
