It seems like Danica Patrick has finally made up her mind. On the one hand, Danica advocated that “ignorance is bliss” when interviewers wanted her opinion on the broader socio-political debate during the 2016 Presidential Elections. Fast forward to 2023, she recently came all out guns blazing with an “I’m not a liberal” at a Turning Point USA-hosted festival. It is fair to say that Patrick certainly enjoys the extra legroom that gives her the benefit of the doubt should anyone question her political alignment. But at least we now know what she is not.

Yesterday, Danica Patrick and her younger sister, Brooke Selman, were guests at Turning Point USA’s annual event, AMFest. Turning Point USA is a non-profit organization established by Charlie Kirk that advocates conservative politics and targets the student community. Danica described her evening in an Instagram post: “Sister came to town to check out @turningpointusa with me! Dad replied to our pic with – perfect daughters. We do love our country…. so AMfest (America Fest) makes sense.

Considering the post had a picture of “Make America Great Again” caps – associated with the Republican Party and Donald Trump – it has created a controversial sentiment among the fans. While many people would agree with it, the comments under the post have slammed her due to a difference in opinion. Addressing the backlash and clarifying her stance in the middle of the controversy, Danica Patrick posted an Instagram story, which read, “Y’all are losing your d*mn minds over my Turning Point post…”

“Here is where I stand with SOME current issues and politics. I am not a liberal. I am somewhere between republican and independent. I think our country should be run by someone that knows business and has integrity. I believe we should be able to speak freely.”

Danica Patrick has shared her views regarding her concerns about the political landscape of the United States occasionally. While she didn’t express any views this time, fans didn’t hold back after Patrick’s opinion contradicted that of a certain faction.

Putting her perspective on the co-existence of people with different opinions and her love for America, she added, “I love this country, and I have lived in other places. I believe when people of different opinions speak face to face, we realize we are more similar than different.”

“I don’t believe everything anyone says. I have been very torn over the years if I should give a s**t about politics or just live the life I want as an example. I have been doing the latter. The reaction today is definitely interesting… since all I said was, I love this country.”

For someone who said, “I feel like religion and politics are the two things that you just stay away from,” back in 2016, Patrick sure has started voicing her political opinions more frequently. But then again, she’s also said, “No one wants to hear my perspective on politics, but I think, honestly, as you get older, you get more interested in it.” And interest is precisely what she showed when Trump got elected in 2016. So when UFC President Dana White recently aligned with her opinion, she couldn’t help but praise him.

Dana White’s ‘honesty’ made Danica Patrick resonate with him

After her comment about staying away from politics, in a turn of events, the former NASCAR driver tweeted on November 9, 2016, “Was a crazy night! I look forward to @realDonaldTrump #MakeAmericaGreatAgain! Don’t we all want America to be great?! Stay positive, Mercia!” She became a hot topic of discussion following this, and now, it looks like Dana White has followed suit.

In an appearance on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast in November 2023, White revealed he’d posted a video on social media in support of Donald Trump. But what followed made Danica Patrick resonate with him. White said, “I posted a video for Trump on my personal social media, and one of our big sponsors called and said, ‘Take that down.’ You know what I said? ‘Go f**k yourself.’”

He continued, “You vote for whoever you want to vote for, and I’ll vote for whoever I want to vote for. That’s how this works. I don’t even care who you’re voting for. It’s none of my business. Don’t ever f***ing call me and tell me who to vote for.” Sharing the clip from the podcast on her Instagram story, Patrick wrote, “God I love honest people. My people!”

One take at a time

I instantly fell in love with the sport as I witnessed the cars' breakneck speeds and the robust nature of the sport and its drivers. As I had a deep-rooted interest in automobiles, the sport naturally piqued my interest in a jiffy. Kyle Busch and his cutthroat style of racing played an important role in getting me hooked to stock car racing as I hopped on streams to watch him win races.
