Denny Hamlin has been the reason for much discussion after his latest incident at Sonoma. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was found inattentive on the job as he hit the wall on his side and spun out onto the track. A video of the incident from reigning Truck Series champion Zane Smith‘s camera has shown a closer view of it.

Hamlin‘s race had to end in the final stage after the contact rendered his car useless. In a hilarious turn of events, NASCAR fans have taken up this chance to pass around some banter and sought out Hamlin’s latest enemy. Surprisingly, the enemy is neither a car nor a person.

Zane Smith’s camera reveals an up-close view of  Denny Hamlin losing control

Zane Smith, driving the #38 Ford for Front Row Motorsports, had the best view of the accident on the raceway. Hamlin’s car spun into the wall in the 92nd lap. He had to adjust his course, so he hit the corner exit wall that severely turned his car to the left lane. With a damaged toe link, there were no chances of him continuing with the race. The result was particularly disappointing for Hamlin as he had won the pole and led the first 33 laps.

Hamlin has been at the center of such experiences with another incident previously that even led to a ban on Chase Elliott. Elliott, who returned this weekend, had an impressive outing with a fifth-place finish.

Martin Truex Jr took the crown to lighten the JGR’s woes from the race. He sees a fourth win at Sonoma, followed by Kyle Busch and William Byron. This win also gives Truex a lead of 13 points in the regular-season point standings over Byron.

Fans slam Hamlin over collision with his latest rival at Sonoma

Fans always love a controversy involving Hamlin. While some find him honest in his outspokenness, for others, he is a whiner. Given the polarizing reactions he receives, it is not surprising that enthusiasts jumped at the opportunity to ridicule him. Crowning his new enemy—the wall—fans have made fun of the incident to take a dig at Hamlin’s supposed crybaby behavior. One fan even said that Chase Elliott was the one behind all this after using illegitimate ways to wreck Hamlin.

Here are a few more hilarious reactions that the post garnered.
