Hendrick Motorsports team has a knack for producing superstars in NASCAR. They have created a quality roster of drivers and currently boast superstars like Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson in their ranks. Their third driver, William Byron, has been having the best of seasons and has already taken the checkered thrice. However, the last of the quartet, Alex Bowman, has been unlucky with injuries.

The driver of the #48 Camaro in the Cup Series was out of action since the race in Talladega. Returning after four weeks of rest, Bowman was ready to go all out at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Not just that, he has been quite vocal about his interest in staying fit and being able to capture some lost points. In a recent interview, he expressed his desire to do that.

Bowman‘s injury comes as a result of an incident in a sprint car race. The injury not only hindered his season but also brought Bowman to the center of a lot of negative comments. His desire and spirit to compete in different divisions of racing are admirable, but it also has left him in a position of bother.

Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, the Hendrick Motorsports driver highlighted the goals that lie ahead for him and shows his love for sprint racing. He said, “I love sprint car and midget racing. And honestly, I probably love working on those race cars and managing the team just as much as I do driving them. And I will get back to it at some point.

“I just don’t know when that point is gonna be. Like looking back at the last ten months, like missing five races last year, obviously that injury happened in a Cup car but it turned out in missing three races or four races this year. I can’t afford to miss anymore so definitely gonna focus more on the team ownership side of things for a while I think.”

On being questioned about his intentions on returning to Sprint car racing, he says ” Yeah, I mean I’m gonna do it again someday. I’m not gonna let that beat me.”

Alex has shown commendable spirit and determination to make his way back into the Cup. He must be hoping that injuries do not impact his performance any longer.

Alex Bowman is looking to make a return after brief hiatus

Last weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 saw Bowman returning to the track. With rain playing spoilsport, the race officials had to cancel the practice session. With that, Bowman’s hopes of having a practice session to smoothen rusty edges were also. Suffering from a fractured vertebra, the 30-year-old seemed keen to see the results after his recovery.

As per reports from Yahoo Sports, Bowman had his eyes set on the 600-mile race. Further elaborating on it, he said, “It would have been really nice to kickstart that with practice today, I haven’t raced or competitively driven a race car in a month. I’m trying to understand where my rusty areas are going to be and where I’m still good.”

Bowman said that he still feels pain in his back because of the jolts suffered as his sprint car flipped multiple times. Even before the Coca-Cola 600, he was anticipating some discomfort throughout the race. Despite that, he was able to finish 12th in the race.
