In the #4 Ford car for Stewart Haas Racing, the final Cup Series playoff race at Bristol ended in heartbreak as Harvick finished 29th. A position far from what he had envisioned. This result not only marked the end of his playoff run but also extinguished his chances of clinching the NASCAR Cup Series championship in his farewell season.

This result also sealed the fate of three other drivers – Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Michael McDowell, and defending champion Joey Logano, who were also eliminated from championship contention.

As the reality of his last chance at a championship slipped away, Kevin Harvick was asked a seemingly simple question by The Athletic. “Can you describe how you are as a passenger in a street car?” His response was nothing short of astonishing.

“I’m not good,” Harvick admitted. He went on to explain that his wife, DeLana, often takes the wheel, and their journeys aren’t without a fair share of commentary. “She gives me a lot of grief when I drive, that I drive too slow or I should have turned here or I shouldn’t listen to the navigation. So I try to give her the exact feedback that she gives me while I drive. And I think she’s not a very good driver in general. She’s an overly aggressive street driver. So I wind up giving a lot of feedback from the passenger seat.”
