The 2023 season marks the 75th anniversary of NASCAR, a sport that had its inception on Daytona Beach. Since then, the sport has traversed a long way. It incorporated elements with the essence of each generation to suit their taste. It also shed its appearance of the yesteryears. Very few sports in the world are as dynamic and inclusive as NASCAR.

Yet, in the continuous process of substituting the old venues with new tracks, many iconic tracks today stand desolate and dilapidated. This is mainly because of a lack of care. However, with the 2023 season marking the year of experimentation, fans may be in for a set of surprises for the upcoming NASCAR seasons.

When the historic track of North Wilkesboro Speedway marked its return in the ongoing season to host the All-Stars-Race, it filled a huge void among the NASCAR community. The fandom witnessed the inter-twining of the traditional track being worn by the Next-Gen cars. It asserted that short tracks still occupied a pivotal position in the hearts of every individual.

The North Wilkesboro marked the revival of the authentic roots of NASCAR. Meanwhile, introducing the Chicago Street Race highlighted the national relevance of the sport. It showed how NASCAR was striving to make the sport more flexible, while also increasing its international reach.

Both races garnered tremendous applause from NASCAR enthusiasts. They tried to balance traditional and experimental tracks. However, there are some unanswered burning questions. Whether these tracks would return for the next season? Will the authorities try to revive the old forlorn tracks that were idiosyncratic of NASCAR?

A NASCAR Insider seemed to deliver some positive news through his latest tweet, answering some of these questions. “BREAKING NEWS: Sources have reported to me that after more talks with Chicago city officials, NASCAR’s Chicago Street Course is now set to return for 2024, but not 2025. I’m also being told NASCAR is 100% committed to bringing Chicagoland Speedway back for the 2025 season,” Chase Holden, the host of GarageGuys FS, posted on X.

RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski also fanned the hope of reincorporating the track of Chicagoland to suit the Next Gen cars. With the speculations running high, fans await a concrete answer from the authorities to confirm the news.

Meanwhile, the news surely created a furor among the NASCAR fans after Holden posted on his account. While many demanded authenticity, others requested the revival of the other iconic tracks.

A fan wrote, “I’m down for Chicagoland. Next-gen is built for the cookie cutters.”

“The race will be from the loop to Chicagoland speedway, do a lap, and then drive back to Buckingham fountain. This is the only way it makes sense.”

“That sounds great and all but I hope we still have a street race in 2025, if not Chicago then Long Beach would be cool

Others also wrote, “Chicagoland was a pretty mid track for almost its entire existence. It had a couple of solid events and we act like it was the best track of all time.”
