Bobby Pierce’s performance during the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model event on February 16, 2024, was nothing short of impressive. Despite facing an early setback, Pierce showcased remarkable resilience and consistency at Volusia Speedway Park. However, the events that led after competing in the race are sure to dampen Pierce’s achievements.

A post-race inspection brought up proof of his tire doping. The decision was made after the tire sample was taken after the completion of the feature at the event and sent to an independent laboratory for testing. As a result, they were fined, penalized, and suspended heavily for not meeting the standards of Hoosier Tire Company.

As per the WoO report, Bobby Pierce has been disqualified from the event. Now, even if the decision was the right course of action, it too had some consequences for the World of Outlaws’ chiefs. CEO Brian Carter opens up about how things proceeded after this.

However, amidst all the controversies circulating, World of Outlaws CEO Brian Carter decides to stay firm on the decision. He is aware of the negative consequences it brings to his business and the sport as a whole. Yet he thinks that not abiding by the rules would leave a worse message to the racing world. Carter opens up to the legendary Kenny Wallace and talks about how he lost his sleep after this incident.

CEO Brian Carter said, “It loses a lot of sleep. I mean, you want to make sure that you are accurate as you can be. Have we thought about everything? Have we thought about all of the pieces and the fact of the matter is, yes, we lose sleep. I lose sleep, Steve lose sleep, the lab lose sleep.” He added, “These things, when they escalate to this level, it’s dead. And you have to keep it pretty close, but anybody who is aware or involved with this, it was a serious deliberation. We take this serious. That’s what it is.”

“We take this serious and anything that has a, it’s going to have a negative effect on my business. I’ve already got plenty of threats, that’s the cost short term to make long term integrity, long term investments in the sport. You know what? I have to give that up. I’m not trading money for that,” continued the World of Outlaws head.

Holding one’s values and integrity in the face of constant wrath is something to be looked out for. Brian Carter is doing exactly that. He had to make a harsh decision for the betterment of the sport. Had he remained partial, the other participating drivers and teams would have certainly revolted instantly.

Although the suspension is genuine, it has sparked controversy and discussions within the racing community. Pierce, the renowned Dirt Late Model driver’s tires, failed to meet the standards set by the Hoosier Tire Company during inspection. The World of Outlaws announced that the laboratory results indicate that Pierce’s tires were altered chemically.

According to the Chapter 3 Technical Rules, Section 11-C, chemical alterations, vulcanizing, tire softening, defacing, and/or altering the face of the tire lettering and/or tire stamping will not be permitted. Chemicals or tire softening are not permitted at any time; he was fined a total of $8,400. Out of which, $1,000 was the fine, $400 was the tire analysis fee, and $7,000 was the prize money from that event.

Additionally, he has been suspended from all World Racing Group events for 30 days or the next four events in the WoO CASE Construction Late Model Series schedule, resulting in the loss of 294 Series Owner and Driver points for the 2024 season.

Hopefully, these measures will contribute to a positive racing experience, and the drivers will avoid engaging in such activities in the future.
