Jimmie Johnson Talks About His Recent IndyCar Multi-Car Incident

Multiple car wrecks are commonplace in NASCAR, and everyone has either been an instigator or a victim. And veteran Jimmie Johnson is no different. He has been involved in his fair share of wrecks during his NASCAR Cup Series career, but the former Hendrick Motorsports driver can proudly say that he has never caused any opponent to flip over.

And he recently took to Twitter to highlight that.

A fan opened up the floor to the NASCAR fandom, asking, “Does anyone know if @JimmieJohnson has ever flipped a Cup car in his career? I don’t feel like he has?”

Johnson, taking his own side, replied, “Not yet…”

In his 20 years in the sport, Johnson enjoyed a fruitful career in NASCAR. Seven Cup Series titles, 83 wins, 374 Top 10s, and 36 pole positions can attest to that. Furthermore, between 2002 to 2013, the ex-Hendrick Motorsports driver has not finished lower than 6th in the championship.

The last title came in 2016 when he won at the season finale at Homestead-Miami; that race also marked his 80th career win in the NASCAR Cup Series. Since then, he went on to take three more wins, but his overall form declined ever since. Additionally, Johnson has also competed in every race bar one in 2020, which he was forced to miss due to COVID-19.

What is Jimmie Johnson up to now?

Ever since he retired from NASCAR, the 45-year-old has been competing in the IndyCar Series. Admittedly, he has not enjoyed a particularly great rookie season, as he has not broken into the Top 15 at all. The highest he has ever finished is 19th place at the opening race of the season in Alabama.

Luckily, he still has five more races to try and redeem himself. It is also worth noting that he has not been flipping any of his IndyCar rivals either. Furthermore, he will be hoping that his clean run will continue into the remaining five races.

Obviously, there is no way of predicting how these races will turn out. However, Jimmie Johnson will be sure to try and make the most of the remaining races in the 2021 IndyCar Series.
