Brett McMillan, from PRN, delves into the impressive start by Gibbs Racing, joined by Lee Spencer and Reid Spencer, in an episode of GoPRNLive. After five straight top 10s now and a P3 finish last week, McMillan asked Lee if she’s confident about young Ty Gibbs winning his much-deserved race this year.

Lee Spencer is all praise for Joe Gibbs’ grandson and mentions that it is just a matter of time. She also stated that Ty has all the support he needs at his disposal, from experienced teammates, to an amazing crew around him. Lee said, “Yeah and a 7.8 average finish, the best on the tour, right? And you are absolutely right, we’ve been talking about this for a few weeks.”

“It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when….Not sure whether it will happen at Richmond or Martinsville. Martinsville has been a great track for Toyota. Richmond I think between Denny and Martin, they’ve won seven times at that track. So, he could be the next guy to get that first-time win,” added Lee.

Despite a P17 at Daytona 500, Gibbs’ trajectory has been soaring high this season in the NASCAR Cup Series. In the very next race Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta, he secured a Top 10 position. Since then, the JGR #54 secured a P5 or above in the Cup Series. His most challenging and noteworthy performance will be at Phoenix Raceway.

When a lot of other experienced drivers struggled at the revamped track, Ty raced as if nothing really changed. Having secured the 2nd spot during pole behind his teammate Hamlin, he went up to finish at P3. Even at the last Cup Series race at COTA, a track where an insane amount of penalties were issued, Ty dashed to finish third. Despite the chaotic environment, his composed performance stood out, leaving fans impressed with his poise and skill on the track.
