As the NASCAR community winds down and shuts its doors for winter, the favorite to win the 2024 championship and fan’s hearts is yet to be decided upon. With guesses for the next season’s winner already doing the rounds, NASCAR journalist Jeff Gluck recently took to social media to declare 2024 as “The Year of Kyle Larson”. And, NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace didn’t waste any time backing the journalist’s claims while showering the #5 driver with a ton of appreciation and counting him as among the greatest talents to come from the sport!

Kenny Wallace believes Larson will be the one to look out for in 2024

It looks like Kenny Wallace has chosen his favorite! The veteran recently made his stance clear on Kyle Larson’s career prospects while sharing a tweet from journalist Jeff Gluck. The tweet was about an article covering Kyle Larson’s 2024 campaign and how it could be the #5’s dream season. Vehemently agreeing with Gluck’s take, Wallace tweeted:

“@KyleLarsonRacin is the one and only driver in the world that can do no more, accept keep racing. When asked WHO IS THE GREATEST TALENT in auto racing, the name Kyle Larson pops up as Number ONE”

Wallace’s support comes as no surprise as the 31-year-old, already a household name, thanks to his consistent performances, will have a lot to look out for the next year! Kicking things off with the Cup Series, the driver will also be seen taking up a formidable challenge as he tries his luck at the revered ‘Double Duty’ next year. He will attempt to race in the Indy 500, then travel almost 600 miles to compete in the Coca Cola 600, that too on the same day. A feat that was attempted last by Kurt Busch in 2014, all eyes will be on Larson as he targets victory at both events!

However, that’s not all. Just when you thought there’s couldn’t be anything else that the HMS driver could possibly get time for in his busy schedule, he comes up with even more on his plate! And this time, it’s not as a driver but as an owner that he’s trying to bring about a change.

There are no limits to Kyle Larson’s success

When Kyle Larson teamed up with his brother-in-law Brad Sweet to create the perfect dirt racing sprint car series, they had no idea how popular the High Limit Sprint Racing Series would become! In only their second year, Larson and Sweet expanded the series after their acquisition of Tony Stewart’s All-Star Circuit of Champions. It looks like the model planned by the duo has also done wonders to attract budding racers and established talent alike.

The series aims to start a charter system, similar to that of NASCAR’s, which will introduce 5 teams eligible to receive charters at the end of 2025, followed by another 5 in 2026 based on performance. The only catch is that teams must compete in every race. But when compared to Outlaws’ 86 races, the High Limit schedule of 50 is more plausible for most.

Speaking to Sports Business Journal, Brad Sweet shared, “Sprint car racing has changed over the last four to five years with streaming money coming in and some money goes to teams, but ultimately what we want to do is build High Limit and truly align ourselves with the team owners, who are the backbone of the sport and allow us (drivers) to showcase our skillset. We want to reward teams with a charter or franchise that aligns our interest so a revenue share as we grow together, they’ll be a part of the growing process.”
