Kyle Busch Unveils ‘Eye-Opening Experience’ Being Sacked by the Team he Spent 15 Years With to Having a Fresh Start in NASCAR

Last weekend, Kyle Busch well and truly announced his intentions for this season. The #8 driver snatched victory at the Auto Club Speedway for Richard Childress Racing. Suffice to say, the 2-time Cup Series champion is thriving in his new team and it is a far cry from 12 months ago. Recently, the latest race winner made an appearance on the NASCAR Live podcast and discussed his triumph. He also spoke about his final year with Joe Gibbs Racing and the saga surrounding his future.

Busch told the NASCAR Live podcast, “It’s been really kind of an eye-opening experience, this whole thing. Just through all the turmoils. and everything of last year. All the unknowns and the question marks and everything kind of surrounding what was going to happen. Where I was going to land and all that. To making the announcement to just kind of seeing the transition of fans. Them getting to understand a little bit more of the full story of everything that kind of went down. We did that TV show late last year too, that was a lot of behind the scenes of everything going on.”

How did Kyle Busch get into such a situation in the first place?

It all started when Busch’s long-time Joe Gibbs Racing sponsor, M&Ms, decided to depart from NASCAR. With no primary sponsor backing him, it left Busch on the lurch and desperate to ink a new deal somewhere. Obviously, he was keen to retain his JGR seat and was hunting for a new sponsor. However, things did not work out and he was forced to kiss that seat goodbye and look for greener pastures.

Soon, Richard Childress Racing swooped in and snatched him up. Before long, they had sponsors lined up and everything was signed, sealed and delivered. Now, the driver is enjoying life as an RCR and Chevrolet driver. Initially, he expected to take some time to adapt to driving a Chevy, compared to years of racing in Toyota machinery. However, in just his second race for the organisation, he has won at the Auto Club Speedway.
