Three rounds in, and the NASCAR Cup Series has surprised us all with different race winners each weekend so far. But despite his best efforts, Kyle Larson is not among those names, as he continues searching for his first win with Hendrick Motorsports.
In the Daytona 500, Larson took the initial stages to gain some adaptability with his new No.5 Chevrolet Camaro. Although he gained some momentum at the backend, it was only enough to secure a 10th-place finish.
Following an effective performance at Homestead-Miami, though, one has to wonder: is Larson edging closer to a Cup Series win in 2021?

The driver himself certainly thinks so, as he took to Instagram to share some of the best snapshots from last Sunday’s race.
Lack of grip on the front tires prevented Kyle Larson from pushing for the lead
The 28-year-old captioned his post stating, “Another fast car, getting closer to that first win. Congrats to my teammate @williambyron.”

Larson got up into sixth place in a matter of just ten laps into the race at Homestead-Miami. But in the final phase of the race, he had to adopt a conservative approach to protect his tires from understeer, which cost him track positions.
At the Daytona Road Course race, only a slight touch of eagerness got the better of him. Had he steered to stay on track, there was a good chance he could have pushed eventual winner Christopher Bell until the end.
Could Larson register his first win in any of the upcoming Cup races?

There are some clear signs of improvement and adaptability from the Hendrick Motorsports No.5. Furthermore, the silver lining to it is that there is a long season to come, and so there will be many such opportunities in store for Larson.
But most notably, the dirt race at Bristol is something he will seek to win, given his credentials on those track surfaces. Even otherwise, Larson could achieve a win at any of the concrete super-speedways as well, considering he has done it in the past with Chip Ganassi Racing.
