There can be no arguing the fact that Kyle Larson is one of the best NASCAR drivers in the current grid. He has built an impressive resume owing to his remarkable skill in racing across disciplines. With a Cup Series championship to his name along with other titles, this Hendrick Motorsports speedster is surely one of a kind.
Filling the shoes of such a versatile driver is surely a mammoth job for his son, Owen, a budding driver himself. And it seems that Larson’s wife and father are concerned about the future of this budding professional, as they expressed in the latest episode of Dirt: The Last Great American Sport.

Kyle Larson’s wife and father show their concern for their son Owen, as a future racer
Children often emulate and try to follow in the same footsteps that their parents. And more often than not, these children often choose the same profession as their fathers or mothers. Owen Larson is no exception.
The 9-year-old has already been exposed to the world of racing, as he competes in go-karting competitions and some minor leagues following his passion for driving—a passion inherited from his father. But having the Larson surname comes with its own baggage. Keeping up with that fame is nothing less than a burden for a kid. This surely is a matter of concern for his mother Katelyn and grandfather Mike, as they express in the latest episode of Dirt.
Owen’s mother, Katelyn Larson says, “When Owen started racing it was 2020-21, so those are the years that Kyle was just knocking out wins week after week and so Owen would go to race and he’d finish last and he’d come in and be like, Dad how come I didn’t win?”
Mrs. Larson added, “They don’t understand it doesn’t come easy, but it does for Kyle. But Owen just didn’t understand why it didn’t come easy for himself.”
While Owen’s grandfather exclaimed, “I kind of fear what they might go through trying to come up as racers, especially Owen because he is a boy if he continues to race, he is gonna finally start tuning in that people are comparing him to his dad or his uncle Brad [Sweet]. That’s going to be something very hard to live up to.”
But as a supportive family and as a mother, Katelyn assures the fact, “I don’t feel like he has to be that kid that follows in his dad’s footsteps and maybe has all the pressure his whole life. I don’t know that he’s the person who can handle it. But if he wants to then, we’ll give him the opportunity.”

But this young soul is not to be underestimated, as he is surely showing the world of motorsports. The road toward glory has already begun for the budding racer. He competed in the “Beginner Box Stock” at the Millbridge Superspeedway and tasted his first career victory. He held off his rival Konner Leicht to take the chequered in front of his proud father. And during the post-race interview when asked about him taking the lead, the kid replied, “I don’t really know. I just drove it.”
While his father Kyle Larson couldn’t have been more proud of his son. He added, “It’s super special. This is his first-ever win, too. It’s really, really awesome. I know he’s pumped. He’s cold and he was super scared to do the interview.”
