NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Anthony Alfredo will return to the Our Motorsports in 2024. Following a stint with BJ McLeod Motorsports in the last two Xfinity seasons, the 24-year-old driver will race in the No. 5 Chevy in the upcoming season. The news comes after the sale of BJ McLeod’s Live Fast Motorsports’ Cup Series charter to Spire Motorsports earlier this year.

Alfredo raced in an Our Motorsports car in 2022 and will happily retain his place in the Xfinity Series. He has been on the radar of Cup Series teams for some time, having shown the potential to be a future Cup Series star. With the move to Our Motorsports, he has maintained his trajectory towards NASCAR’s top flight.

Anthony Alfredo secures his future in the Xfinity Series

The news of Live Fast Motorsports’ charter sale came earlier this year, in September. Co-owners BJ McLeod and Matt Tifft put a price tag of $40 million on the Cup Series spot, which Spire Motorsports nabbed. Spire has used the opportunity to get 2022 Truck Series champion Zane Smith on loan as a part of its alliance with Trackhouse Racing.

As for Anthony Alfredo, the charter sale could have implied some incoming changes to the car and the team’s facilities. LFM bought the charter for about $10 million from the non-operational Go Fas Racing in 2020. With a profit of around $30 million, BJ McLeod Motorsports could have invested some of that amount in its No.78 Xfinity Series car, which Alfredo drove.

With the news of Anthony Alfredo’s arrival, Our Motorsports has decided to change their car number to No.5 from #02. Alfredo will reunite with his former team, having recorded one top-5 and four top-ten finishes in 2022. Expressing his joy over the move, Alfredo said, “I am thrilled about the opportunity to return to Our Motorsports and drive the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro. We all have the will to win, and I believe in the team of people we are putting together.”

Our Motorsports also conveyed its confidence in the partnership, saying, “We are very excited to welcome Anthony back to Our Motorsports,” said Our. “We have the same goals, and with the experience he has, we know we can excel in 2024.”

While BJ McLeod has always been an inconsistent presence in the Cup Series, the sale of BJMM’s charter was unexpected. However, his profit from the sale hints towards a change in the scenario for teams that have failed to impress in the Cup.

Anthony Alfredo has raced in the Cup Series in a Front Row Motorsports Chevrolet. However, failing to display impressive results with FRM meant he had to move to the Xfinity Series. This allowed him to exhibit his quality in his limited starts with Richard Childress Racing.
