Even though the coming season will eventually answer the question by itself, the question still remains- Has Kyle Busch actually made an upgrade after switching to Richard Childress Racing from Joe Gibbs Racing? After all, his success in the #18 is something that stands pretty tall, and even if things go really well, it’d be hard to match for him.

But in all the changes that took place in the garage last season, there was one change that directly or indirectly affected Busch’s fate for the immediate and the long-term future.

Short-term future as in his new team, and long-term future as in his fate at his new team.

Yes, that key change in NASCAR was Tyler Reddick’s move to 23XI Racing. And perhaps, in all of this, it could be that Reddick is the one who got a better hand, certainly a better one than Busch.

NASCAR analyst feels Kyle Busch has a “bigger hill” in front of him at RCR

Speaking in a recent episode of the NASCAR Race Hub, the group of analysts looked at the new faces and the big changes in the garage ahead of the 2023 season. And as for the Busch to RCR and Reddick to 23XI business, one analyst felt the old #8 driver had the upper hand over the new #8 one.

“If I’m Tyler Reddick, I feel like I’ve come out on the upper hand though, being at 23XI, the affiliation with Joe Gibbs, I think he moved up,” he said. “I think that’s gonna be a bigger hill for Kyle Busch to climb at RCR. “
