Kurt Busch bids adieu with a heart-touching video

In May of 2022, Kurt delivered his 34th Cup Series victory at Kansas. Two months after the win, Busch had to go through an unfortunate crash that triggered the beginning of the end for him. With the qualifying session at Pocono being the backdrop, he endured a concussion that was incredibly difficult for him to recover from. Owing to this he announced that he had to opt out of driving full-time for 23XI Racing and was eventually replaced by Tyler Reddick in the #45.

Following the declaration of his retirement plans, he posted a video on Instagram that takes one back to the glorious career he has had. Being one of NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers, Kurt Busch has an undeniable influence on the community. Eminent personalities and organizations from the industry came together to voice their pride over witnessing a magnificent career.

Fans recollect their favourite memories of Busch

Kurt Busch was a harbinger of a new era in NASCAR. The first champion after the introduction of the playoff format, Busch became an instant fan-favorite after beating off the competition from Hall of Famers like Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Coming into the comment section of the emotional video that summarizes his time in the Cup, one can see fans dumping off their personal biases as well.

One of the fans expressed that despite Busch invoking mixed feelings in him, he could not help but acknowledge a legendary tenure. He comments, “Thank you for being a villain, a hero and a champion! You were great to watch all these years! Some days I hated you some days I loved you and more often than not I was cheering for you @kurtbusch”

Another fan was reminded of his race at Sonoma in 2012 for Phoenix Racing when he took a car with a broken panhard bar to fight for the win eventually finishing third, as he says,

“Long time fan…gonna be hard to watch without ya…everyone should share there favorite Kurt moment…mine was the 51 car @ Sonoma straight wheelman that day”

“Forever one of my favorite drivers growing up and I’m glad I get to see you race and win it’s a shame your career had to come short but you’re still a champion a winner and one hell of a driver. Thank you Kurt” claimed another fan saddened by the fact that Busch could have raced for longer if not for the problematic concussions that forced him to retire early.

The void that Busch’s departure leaves will be a big one to fill. With another legend in Harvick retiring as well, and possibly his teammate Aric Almirola joining the fray, the Cup will need some more stars to step up to the occasion.
