Only a few weeks ago, the worlds of NASCAR and Rock music collided for several fans as the Grammy Award-winning band Creed made their way to the Daytona 500 as an associate partner for Jimmie Johnson’s #84 entry. Even the 7x Cup champ couldn’t help but fanboy over the iconic band as they handed him an autographed guitar. He shared, Unless you have lived under a rock, you know every word to every Creed hit.” So when some of the community started making the connection between the rock band and a rising star in the Xfinity Series who shared his last name with them, Joe Gibbs Racing took the gag to another level on their Instagram, with Sheldon Creed name-dropping some of their most iconic lyrics in a hilarious interview.

Sheldon Creed doubles down with wordplay

In JGR’s newest reel on Instagram, Sheldon Creed sides down with a representative to go over his move to Coach Gibb’s Xfinity Program. Without skipping a beat, the 26-year-old started off the interview with the opening lines from Creed’s hit, My Sacrifice. He hummed, “Hello, my friend, we meet again. It’s been a while. Where should we begin?” As the host retorted in confusion, “Well, we’ve never met before but anyways, new year new team, how’s the JGR Xfinity group treating you?”

“With arms wide open,” said the driver, naming the band’s third single from their second studio album. Sheldon Creed was clearly in the mood for wordplay. Reflecting on his excitement at joining Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2024 Xfinity season, Creed pulled out another hit from the band’s discography, “How they could take me higher.”

But that’s not all. It seems like the Xfinity star spent quite some time going over some classics put out by the beloved band. When the interviewer wanted to ask him something about his thoughts, Creed completed his words before he could finish, “(Do you ever think about-) What this life’s for?” complimenting one of their biggest hits with yet another, Creed added: “Do I want to change the world? Yeah.”

Continuing the gag throughout, Creed was asked about the track he’s looking forward to the most this year, to which the 26-year-old added yet another line from the iconic band, “Definitely Darlington. It’s a tough place, I like to run six feet from the edge.” Further, speaking about his preparations for whats to come, Creed added, “Yes. I feel like life has just begun.” And to top it all off, the band’s counterpart in racing ended things by screaming out one of their most famous openers, “WHAT IF I!”

Sheldon Creed’s antics didn’t go unnoticed as fans flocked to the comments section to reveal their takes.
