Usually, NASCAR is the one trying to lure new sponsors, new partners, and new tracks to itself. However, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that things are the other way around now.

And it’s only natural considering the incredible success of the Next Gen car that has been a big boost to the popularity of the sport.

NASCAR is in demand, and it makes sense.

Recently, journalist Adam Stern reported that Tennessee’s governor, Bill Lee, is proposing a $17 million renovation program for the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in order to lure stock cars back to the track.

Currently, the Nashville stop on the calendar is the Nashville Superspeedway, but should this bill go through, should the renovated track pose an interesting prospect, it won’t be long before NASCAR adds another stop to the southern state.

Regardless of that, fans were divided on this prospect. Some of them were in support of the renovation, while some didn’t consider it a very bright idea.

NASCAR Hall of Famer has been a huge advocate for Nashville Fairgrounds track

Dale Earnhardt Jr hasn’t shied away from expressing his love and urge to include tracks like Fairgrounds back as a regular fixture on the NASCAR calendar. In an interview last year, the NASCAR Hall of Famer claimed that should they run an Xfinity Series race on the track, he’ll be a part of it.

“I run once a year. I’ll probably do that as long as I can and there should be a few more years of that,” Earnhardt Jr. added. “Hopefully we can get the Xfinity here soon; the next couple of years because I’d love to come out here and compete.”

The JR Motorsports owner recalled his love at first sight with the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. “I still remember the first time I came to race here,” Earnhardt said.
