Defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano got into a fix at the Pocono Raceway. Having wrecked his car, he also had to bear four flat tires on his #22. Waiting for some assistance from the track’s safety crew to resume his race at the earliest, Logano got quite frustrated and was seen venting it out to the safety crew.

Livid at the delay in services, Joey Logano hurled abuse at the track officials, who were merely trying to get him out of the helpless situation. This incident has not gone down well in the NASCAR community either. Content production house Dirty Mo Media’s podcast Door Bumper Clear also dived deeper into the issue with its hosts, TJ Majors, Brett Griffin, Freddie Kraft, and Casey Boat. The spotter trio was not convinced by Logano’s idea of being towed to the pit stand for repairs at that moment.

“Don’t spin out”: NASCAR insider on Joey Logano complaining about safety crew’s incompetence

You wrecked. You have four flat tires, but NASCAR should give you four really good tires to drive back.” starts off Griffin. Logano’s demands sounded something like that from afar as his problems kept piling up. A simple problem of miscommunication between the crew and the defending champ was enough to anger him amid his desperation to get back into the race.

Majors was particularly critical about this question from the #22 driver. He says that the words that came out of Logano’s mouth weren’t given a proper thought maybe. He said, “Have you ever seen how long it takes to train the pit crew to get the car off the ground on the pit road to get the tires changed, now, what are we gonna do? Four tow truck drivers out there?”

“What if there’s three guys out there? We’re gonna have three trucks.. maybe we should drive by your pit stop, pick up your pit crew, and bring them out there with you… Like I get it that would make your life a lot easier. Don’t spin out.

Disappointed at the Team Penske ace’s behavior toward the track safety crew, he then says that the crew was trying to push him back to the pit stand which was helping him out in one way.

“And that’s the other thing, you hear the rant, I get it, you’re mad, you wrecked when you’re leading the race, you gotta cycle back, don’t be an a**h**le to the guy that’s trying to help you. Like this guy doesn’t know. He’s just MFing this guy, calling him every other name in the book. The tow truck drivers are very capable, like what is going on here? Like you cannot honestly believe that we should just ride around killing parade laps while we figure out how to change your four tires on the racetrack.”

“If they could’ve brought you twelve tires out there, your car was wrecked. It does not matter. He’s trying to make actual points while I’m like ‘this sounds like the dumbest sh** I’ve ever heard of.’

At the end of the race, Joey Logano had a P35 finish with a lead in 21 laps that was surmounted by nothing in the end. The incident in the 36th lap that left him with flat tires was fixed immediately by his pit crew. Despite that, he failed to garner the pace needed to compete with the cars he had already lost track of and was forced to retire.

Griffin had a witty comparison to make in this case. No one knew he had these humorous culinary references in his bag. He said, “It reminds me of… Joey Logano’s rant outside of the car reminds me of when I used to go home to food and I open my burger up and they put a tomato in there.”

Bubba Wallace‘s spotter for the #23, Freddie Kraft, approved of the sarcastic dig by Griffin, saying, ” That might be the most accurate thing you’ve ever said.”

Logano’s words originate from his thought that driving with four flat tires was of no use and that he would rather hurt the car in that situation. As he expressed after the race, he still believed that they wouldn’t have been in such a spot of bother and looking for ways to recover the two lost laps had his car been towed out early.

They don’t know that you can’t push your car with four flat tires on it the car doesn’t steer, you know. And I’m trying to tell them to hook it up and end up trying to push me. Wasted a lap and a half before they tried to hook it so just…. there’s a better way to do it,” was the 33-year-old’s argument.

To add to all of his frustration, he also promised that he was going to take this matter to NASCAR authorities and find a common ground for both parties.
