NASCAR Legend Shares Unseen Photograph From Country Music Star’s 1996 Hit Who’s Cheatin’ Who; Fans Overwhelmed With Nostalgia

Remember 1983 when legends like Bill Elliott, Dale Earnhardt and others came together to release a music album in 1983? ‘Stock Car Racing’s Entertainers of the Year’ is a classic example of how NASCAR and music have always been intertwined. There’s more. Before hitting the Eras Tour, and enthralling the world with her impressive voice, the Anti-Hero singer Taylor Swift had once braced the track of NASCAR. She was invited to sing the National Anthem during the race in Phoenix, back in 2006. However, before these award-winning artists had braced the stages of NASCAR, the sport had forged its allegiance with the world of country music, a ritual that is still prevalent today.
It was not only the singers and their bands that enthralled the audience with their performance, there were instances when the drivers also reversed their roles and let go of their steering wheels and firesuits to reveal their inner rockstar. If one gasps in disbelief, well, Dale Jarrett’s tweet remains testament to that.

If one is acclimatized with the world of Formula 1, then one is already aware of the song, “Smooth Operator” attributed to Carlos Sainz or Lando Norris singing the lines from the Riton and Nightcrawlers song “Friday.” However, it is not just the world of open-wheel racing that can boast of a unique taste in music, but also in NASCAR. The race weekends are not merely watching the drivers race their cars, but also the pre-race celebrations, which include country music concerts.
Moreover, it’s not just Lando Norris who can boast of mixing songs and be a DJ apart from being a racer. NASCAR had already treaded on that road years ago. It was back in 1997 when the NASCAR veterans instead of revving up their engines had found themselves swaying to the tunes of country music. Drivers like Dale Jarrett, Mark Martin, and Bill Elliott channeled their inner rockstar in this music video. Although it has been more than two decades since this music video was released, NASCAR veteran Dale Jarrett reminisced about the old days by posting a photo with the words, “Wow.”
If one is still unable to recall the music video, the answer is “Who’s Cheatin’ Who”, a country song that was originally written by Jerry Hayes and recorded by Charly McClain, recorded in 1980 by Epic Records. Nevertheless, 17 years later, Alan Jackson covered this song in 1997 and gained success on the Billboard charts. The singer himself posted the picture of the divers along with the singer, where he was seen surrounded by the drivers.

The music video featured drivers like John Andretti, Jeremy Mayfield, Dale Jarrett, Mark Martin, Bill Elliott, and Ernie Irvan. Alongside the video, Rusty Wallace was seen playing the ending guitar solo, while Kenny Irwin Jr’s #98 truck was seen being driven by Jackson.

It did not take time for the NASCAR community to identify the picture. The older fans became nostalgic while the contemporary generations also left hilarious comments.

They wrote, “Why only Ford drivers?” To this, another user replied, “Back in ’97 when Alan Jackson did the video for the song Who’s Cheatin Who, one of his sponsors was Ford. So since it was a NASCAR based video, of course just Ford drivers were included in the video.”
Another fan joked, “Basically that was a Commercial for Ford.”
“That looked like a fun video to shoot… all those legends, the monster truck was a plot twist.”
