Whenever NASCAR comes up with new rules regarding Cup Series, Truck Series, and Xfinity races participation, all eyes turn towards Kyle Busch. This is because he is one of the few drivers who race across all the series.

And every time there are discussions of NASCAR singling out Busch with restrictions because of his tendency to participate across them all. In August 2019, NASCAR came up with a new participation rule. According to it, drivers with more than three years of full-time experience in the Cup Series cannot participate in more than 5 Xfinity and Truck Series races.

Unsurprisingly, Busch and his fans seemed upset with the new participation restrictions. And recently Kyle Busch jumped on a TikTok trend to highlight his views on the rules. In the clip, Busch’s caricature is being followed by police and he is running away from them.

Moreover, a song with the words ‘It’s cool when they do it, it’s a problem when I do it’ is playing in the background. To provide more context to the video, Busch captioned it ‘When other Cup drivers race Trucks n Xfinity.’ As expected, NASCAR fans got the hint and poured in their opinions on Twitter.

However, only a few of them supported Busch. Some even compared his rampant participation across series with Earnhardt Sr and Mark Martin. Whereas, some others criticized his attempt of questioning NASCAR’s rule. While a few others simply found it hilarious.

Apart from Busch, Joey Logano is also one of the drivers who is affected by these rules. And, no matter what Busch or his fans believe, NASCAR feels that these participation limits are necessary.

NASCAR on singling out Kyle Busch

NASCAR’s Senior Director of Racing Operations denied the accusations of singling Kyle Busch out. In fact, Meghan Miley believes that Busch has been impressive in all the race formats. However, he explained that the governing body has to do what is best for all the drivers.

He said; “That’s always something people bring up, and while what Kyle is doing is no less impressive and he’s an extremely important owner in our Truck Series, we take into account what’s been the trend here for all of our teams in the garage, all of our stakeholders and really what is best for everybody, not just one person.”

However, no matter what Miley or any other member of the governing body says, the new rules were famously termed ‘Kyle Busch Rule’ and ‘Bushwhacker.’
