While the National Hot Rod Association has already begun planning for its monumental 75 anniversary season in 2026, there is still one last significant item remaining in the 2025 campaign: namely, crowning the champions in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

That will take place this coming weekend at the conclusion of the season-ending In-N-Out Burger Finals, November 13-16, at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragway in Pomona, California.
Here’s how the top four professional classes shape up in the final event of the NHRA Mission Foods Countdown to the Championship and the points structure:

TOP FUEL: Doug Kalitta is on the verge of wrapping up his second career championship in the last three seasons.
Kalitta, who won his first Top Fuel title in 2023, has a massive 144-point lead over Kalitta Motorsports teammate Shawn Langdon and a 163-point lead over third-ranked Justin Ashley.
All Kalitta must do to clinch the championship is make one successful qualifying run on either Friday or Saturday. And given that there are four qualifying runs between those two days, it’s almost a certainty that Kalitta will wrap up the title even before Sunday’s season-ending four final rounds of eliminations.

It took Kalitta more than a quarter-century – 26 seasons, to be exact – and six runner-up season finishes before he captured the Top Fuel championship in 2023. Now, after a seventh runner-up campaign in 2024, he’s all but assured of a second Top Fuel crown in three seasons.

The 61-year-old Kalitta, a resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, has had an exemplary season in 2025, earning four wins and three runner-up finishes. Plus, he set career personal bests in both elapsed time (3.628 seconds) and speed in the 1,000-foot dragstrip (341.34 mph).
And to the point about needing just one successful qualifying run this weekend to clinch the Top Fuel championship, Kalitta captured No. 1 qualifier honors in eight of the season’s first 19 races.
Two other noteworthy items heading into the season finale:
- Although eliminated from the championship battle, Brittany Force will still be looking to go out a winner in what is expected to be the final race of her storied career. The two-time Top Fuel champ (2017, 2022) is retiring to start a family, following in the footsteps of her sisters Ashley Force Hood and Courtney Force Rahal, who also had standout careers before retiring to start families. Force looks to go out strong at what is her home track at Pomona: she holds the Top Fuel national speed record (343.51 mph) and won last weekend in Las Vegas.
- Depending on how he performs this weekend, NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart will likely finish fifth or sixth in his second full-time Top Fuel season. Stewart is stepping out of his Tony Stewart Racing dragster after this weekend to allow his wife, Leah Pruett, to return to competition in the same car next season. But have no fear, Stewart isn’t going far: he’ll race for Elite Motorsports in 2026.
FUNNY CAR: Seeking his second straight Funny Car championship, Indianapolis resident Austin Prock has a strong 101-point lead heading into Pomona over second-ranked Matt Hagan.
Driving for Tony Stewart Racing, Hagan won last weekend’s penultimate race at Las Vegas – defeating Prock in the final round to keep Hagan in the title conversation against Prock.

Hagan is a four-time Funny Car champ, but he has his work cut out for him at Pomona: Prock comes into the season finale having earned a massive nine wins and three runner-up showings in the first 19 races, while Hagan has earned three wins and two runner-ups.
A resident of Christiansburg, Virginia, Hagan has added incentive coming into Pomona: he would love to give himself an early birthday present – he turns 43 on November 18 – with a race win and upsetting Prock for the championship.
But that will be easier said than done for Hagan. Prock only needs to qualify and reach the second round of eliminations to clinch his second Funny Car title in a row.
PRO STOCK: Dallas Glenn missed winning his first-ever NHRA Pro Stock championship last season by 11 points, losing to KB Titan Racing teammate Greg Anderson, who claimed his sixth Pro Stock title.
Heading into this weekend, it’ll be a rematch of the two as only Glenn and Anderson have a chance at winning the championship. However, this year is significantly different for Glenn than last year was, as he comes into Pomona with a stout 92-point lead over Anderson.

With Pomona awarding 50% more points than most regular races, it gives Anderson, a Charlotte, North Carolina resident, hope to claim a come-from-behind win in the championship battle over Glenn, who lives only a few miles away from his teammate and championship rival.
The 34-year-old Glenn has had an outstanding 2025 season, with eight wins and five runner-up finishes in 17 Pro Stock events. Meanwhile, the 64-year-old Anderson has six wins plus three runner-up showings, including winning the earlier-season race at Pomona in the Winternationals, as well as eight No. 1 qualifiers.
The championship battle between the two comes down to a case of simple math: if Glenn can qualify strong and enter Sunday’s final eliminations with a points lead of 90 or more points, all he’d have to do to win the Pro Stock title is to earn a win in the first round of the finals – even if Anderson goes on to win the race.
However, if Glenn comes into Sunday with a lead of less than 90 points over Anderson, he will have to make it to the semifinal round – regardless of if he wins or loses – to clinch the championship.
Thus far this season, Glenn has recorded a career-best speed (213.13 mph) and elapsed time (6.446 seconds).
Meanwhile, Anderson reset the Pro Stock elapsed time national record at 6.443 seconds.
PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE: This category promises the closest championship battle of the four pro classes.
Seeking his first career PSM title, Brownsburg, Indiana resident Richard Gadson holds a razor-thin 21-point lead over Vance & Hines teammate and two-time defending champ Gaige Herrera of DeMotte, Indiana.

Each round of the PSM eliminations will be worth 30 points apiece, meaning the championship may not be decided until Sunday’s final round – particularly if it winds up being Gadson vs. Herrera in what would essentially be a winner-take-all race and championship win.
Gadson won the first four races of his PSM career this season (along with three runner-ups), while Herrera has a series-high seven wins (plus one runner-up). Herrera has also been the No. 1 qualifier in eight races this season, while Gadson has been the No. 1 qualifier twice. PSM only competes in 14 in-season races.
