Tyler Reddick’s family is going through one of the hardest things imaginable. His wife, Alexa, recently posted that their newborn son, known affectionately as “Rookie,” is in the cardiovascular ICU at Levine’s, fighting for his life.

From what Alexa shared, things had been troubling for a while. She says signs were pointing to something serious, but the pediatrician’s office kept brushing them off. She writes, “After a run around for months with the pediatrician’s office, I knew what was going on was something bigger. Always trust your mom gut.”
Eventually, it emerged that Rookie was showing signs of heart failure, symptoms she believes were missed earlier. “Our sweet Rookie was showing signs of heart failure that were being missed,” she said. That discovery led to their current stay in the cardiovascular ICU.

It’s not often that she shares such personal moments or struggles, she noted, but she felt this one deserved to be told. She wants others to understand the seriousness and maybe to recognize when something just doesn’t feel right with a child.
There are no updates yet beyond what Alexa shared, but the message is clear: Rookie is in critical condition and needs both medical care and prayers. The family, especially Alexa, is holding onto faith, hoping for healing and better days ahead.

NASCAR community rallies around Rookie
Amy Earnhardt, wife of Dale Earnhardt Jr., kept it simple but heartfelt: “Praying for y’all.” Amy is no stranger to the highs and lows of racing life, having built a family with Dale since their 2016 marriage and co-founded High Rock Vodka. Kimmie Coon, the racing reporter with more than a decade covering NASCAR’s twists and turns, chimed in: “Thinking about your sweet family.” Her perspective, shaped by years of seeing drivers’ lives up close, makes her message hit home. The NASCAR community is like a small town—when one family hurts, everyone feels it, and Kimmie’s note reflects that shared concern for the Reddicks’ fight.
Danielle Trotta, a sports broadcaster who has been a voice for NASCAR fans, added: “Sending prayers for strength and healing. Thank you for sharing that the power of prayer is real. xo.” Danielle has covered enough races to know the pressure drivers face, but her words focus on the bigger battle: Rookie’s health and Alexa’s courage in opening up. It is a reminder that faith and community can be lifelines in moments like these.
