Public Enemy No. 1 Ross Chastain Names the “Naturally Gifted” Legend He Wants to Race Against

Ahed of the race weekend at Pocono, controversy’s favorite child, at least currently in NASCAR, Ross Chastain was questioned about the driver, past or present, who he’d like to race against?

And his answer was someone who is truly one of the greatest to ever do it.

“I would probably pick Mario Andretti because he traversed all walks of racing. I would like to know more about that. I would ask him who helped him a team of people, or did you just plug yourself in whichever series it was. He was naturally gifted, but he still had to work at it,” Chastain said.

Even if he could, it’s unclear whether Mario Andretti would enjoy racing with someone who’s known for punting people off the race circuit and deliberately causing crashes.

But it definitely will be fun to watch the legend Andretti race with the Next-gen cars alongside current big names like Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Bubba Wallace among others.

Ross Chastain on the Chicago Street Race announcement

Since the formal announcement for the Chicago Street Race took place. Public enemy number one, Ross Chastain, shared his views on the new format.

“Just the art of driving through a city like that is known to me so I’m really excited. To me, it’s grow or die. I mean we have to keep growing, we have to keep expanding,” Chastain said in a video interview.

He also mentioned how practice sessions are going to be extremely important. As drivers need to understand the braking with these cars on a street-type circuit.

The fact that most of the turns as shown during the iRacing showcase seemed to be 90-degree turns with no run-off areas. Unless drivers learn and adapt to the circuit fast we could witness a lot of wrecks in Chicago next year.
