The Phoenix race ensued as drivers and their engines burned up in the desert heat. The Toyotas could prevail in the boiling fight, overthrowing the Chevrolets from the throne for the first time after three races. Some Chevrolets ended in dismal conditions by the end of the event. Austin Dillon ended in a measly 32nd position. The day was not good for even veteran racer Kyle Busch.

Nobody is in doubt of Busch’s skills behind the wheel. Yet the desert sucked the glory from his tires. Busch’s No. 8 Chevrolet did not pay heed to his demands and took a fancy spin on its own mid-race. This cost Busch dearly, with many fans pointing fingers at his team’s substandard efforts.

Kyle Busch is seen as the victim of the RCR team’s sloppiness

Busch’s team went through a major overhaul after 17-second pit stops halted his winning efforts in Las Vegas. The pit stops at Phoenix definitely seemed faster, but Busch could not reap the full benefits. On lap 197 of 312, the No. 8 car lost grip over the asphalt track. Busch tried to fix its trajectory but ended up getting bumped by Zane Smith. He went spinning towards Kaz Grala and the inner wall.

The spin fortunately did not cause major damage to the car. However, Kyle Busch could only run in the first 20 contenders. Eventually, he could scrape together a 22nd finish at the final lap. It is safe to say that the ‘winningest’ driver in NASCAR is currently piling up on frustration.

Recently Kyle Busch posted pictures of his Phoenix ride on Instagram. He captioned: “Fought no grip all weekend. Rebuilt the car 3 times. Proud of the effort! Ended up 22nd. Let’s continue to battle at Bristol.⚔️”

Although his emotions were masked, several of his fans rallied to show that they were aware of the real situation. Backlashes were hurtled at Richard Childress Racing for handing Busch a mediocre car.

“I’m sorry they’ve done this to you my sweet pookie bear.” Another fan commented harshly: “RCR gives you a dump truck every week, you are way to talented to be dealing with mediocre engineers and a mediocre pit crew.”

Other fans bashed RCR while harboring hopes for the next race in Bristol, “RCR didnt give you a good car at all this week KB. onto the track you own, Bristol should hopefully be good for you.” Another fan said, “Hopefully they give you something better than a tractor next week.”

The No. 8 team in RCR was revamped ahead of the Phoenix race. Two new tire changers and a new jackman aided Busch’s pit team. However, more issues seem to be on the cards for the RCR team.

Last month in Atlanta, Kyle Busch spilled the beans on a crucial issue faced by his team. RCR was unable to sign some free-agent pit crew members. Their office location in North Carolina is about an hour from where most Cup teams and pit crew members are based.

Andy Petree, executive vice president at Richard Childress Racing, shed light on the situation. “Our location hurts us. We can’t recruit. It’s a disadvantage for us to recruit people to Welcome. It’s a more difficult challenge than Concord or Mooresville to be able to recruit people that are already established, really good people. It’s hard to go get them because they don’t want to drive an hour and a half to practice.”

Kyle Busch is coming off a disappointing finish in Phoenix. Let us hope that his pit team woes do not add insult to injury in the next races.
