The crown jewel family is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary as a motorsport powerhouse. This comes just a year after NASCAR’s diamond jubilee. What began as Lee Petty’s humble entry into the first-ever NASCAR race in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1949, has transformed the sport completely.

Reflecting on Lee Petty’s initiative to begin a journey that would span across four generations, Kyle Petty emphasized the importance of racing for the crown jewel family of NASCAR in a press release. He said, “My father (Richard Petty) is a walking encyclopedia of NASCAR, he was there with my grandfather, grandmother, and uncle Maurice at the first NASCAR race in Charlotte in 1949 and our family has been going ever since. There isn’t anything our family hasn’t seen in NASCAR.”

Speaking of Richard Petty, the King had nothing but praise for how far the team, started by his father nearly 75 years ago, had come. As per the press release on Kyle Petty’s website, he shared, “Spending 2024, celebrating the success and contributions to the sport of racing that started with my mom and dad, then my brother Maurice, cousin Dale Inman, then to Kyle, Timmy, Ritchie, Mark, onto Adam and now Thad. We are all looking forward to sharing these stories with the fans.”

The dream that started with Lee Petty’s three Grand National championships saw the turn of the century with his grandson, Kyle Petty, carrying the baton forward. For the 75th Anniversary of the Petty family, the team revealed a new logo to pay homage to their racing pedigree in NASCAR. The logo will be utilized throughout the 2024 season at various Petty-hosted events as well as the Legacy Motor Club cars on the track. The team shall also release unique content and insights from the Petty family’s rich NASCAR history. The never-seen-before family video archives and the content will be available across @therichardpetty, @kylepetty, @pettybrothersracing, @pettymuseum, and the @pettysgarage on social media channels.

As the Petty family revealed exciting news to celebrate their diamond jubilee, in true NASCAR fashion, the comment section quickly flooded with nostalgic fans pouring in their love for the Petty Family. Most don’t know that the Petty Blue color came around after Richard Petty had to compromise on his paint scheme due to a lack of white and dark blue paint. The combination Petty created in his garage impressed his father so much that it quickly became their trademark. The iconic color scheme, along with a revelation of the new logo, prompted a user to share their earnest request, “At least one race in the Petty blue colors with this logo.”
