The American stock car racing driver Ross Chastain has been competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing. Apart from this collaboration, Chastain has also been associated with Spire Motorsports in the past. He drove the No. 77 car at the 2020 Daytona Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400. In the context of this past association, Chastain recently spoke about the rise of his former team.

In a recent interview before qualifying at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Ross Chastain was caught in a candid chat about the progress shown by Spire Motorsports over the years. He also shared his views on the drivers who have yet to make it to where Chastain did.

Ross Chastain is unsympathetic towards resource-constrained drivers

Ahead of the 27th annual Pennzoil 400 qualifier at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Ross Chastain was caught in conversation with Michael Massie. The NASCAR driver was asked if he is empathetic to the drivers who are devoid of information and resources. Chastain, who once struggled to make it to his current position in the NASCAR world, made a straightforward claim and emphasized that he worked hard to get into his current position. Also speaking from a competitor’s standpoint, the Florida-born driver showcases no empathy towards others. It is all fair, according to him.

“The ones that are working will get here and maybe take my job one day. I don’t know, but no I’ve been the one enough that didn’t know what was about to happen, or didn’t know what right front spring to put in. They just kind of went off their notes,” said Chastain. He added, “Years gone by and as stuff evolved, we were always behind. I don’t feel sorry for them.” 

Ross Chastain is confident in his current position and confirms that he deserves to be informed, unlike drivers who have yet to make it there. However, speaking of the information and resources drivers are provided by their teams, Ross Chastain confessed his lack of understanding.

He believes that he is stuffed with more information than he is capable of dealing with. The information provided by Trackhouse Racing often needs smart people to decipher. The lack of these does not affect drivers.

On the latest front, Ross Chastain is participating in the Pennzoil 400 race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Driving for Trackhouse Racing, Chastain secured the 20th starting position. Ross Chastain, despite being a 12-1 longshot, has garnered support from expert auto racing handicappers Phil Bobbitt and Steve Greco for the 2024 Pennzoil 400. These seasoned analysts have identified Chastain as a promising contender, despite the odds.

Additionally, Chastain has made 11 starts at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Cup Series. Notably, he has secured three top-five finishes, with particularly strong showings in recent races. Dating back to 2022, Ross Chastain secured a third-place position at the Pennzoil 400 race. Seven months later, during the South Point 400, he secured the runner-up position.

Ross Chastain is thus confident of the information he deserves.
