Spire Motorsports, the NASCAR racing outfit owned by Jeff Dickerson appears to have acquired deep pockets this season. The hottest topic on racing grounds is their purchase of Kyle Busch Motorsports. The shopping cart with Kyle Busch included the “Rowdy Manufacturing” chassis building operation, a 77,000-square-foot facility of Kyle Busch Motorsports, and Rowdy Manufacturing in Mooresville.

Coming off fresh from their influential purchase that could dictate the terms of racing next year, the team’s star driver Corey LaJoie plunges to the aid of the non-profit organization, YMCA. Recently announcing a charity auction that will benefit the underserved, LaJoie invited fans to place their bids for the items that were on auction.

On the racetrack this year, Corey LaJoie and his #7 team haven’t had the best of years. Not making the playoffs, they currently sit at the 27th spot in the driver standings. His best finish this year came at the Atlanta Motor Speedway where he finished at P4. From there on, he has collected a dismal 15 finishes outside the top 20. Despite his on-track failures, the 32-year-old driver has now jumped on the bandwagon to give back to the community by organizing another year of Kickball Klassic for the aid of the YMCA, a $6.4 billion nonprofit organization.

Away from the tracks of NASCAR, LaJoie is very serious about one sport, that is Kickball. Creating a tournament around the sport, the driver donates all the proceeds from it to charity. This year, that tournament is to take place on October 5. His announcement on his “X” handle is to fund the same. 2023, is the 3rd successful year of his wonderful initiative.

Following patterns similar to last year, the format for the tournament this year will have 16 teams in addition to 4 celebrity teams. Amongst those who are set to give a shot at the game this year are drivers Ryan Blaney, Bubba Wallace, and Kyle Larson. With celebrities even from outside NASCAR choosing to be a part of LaJoie’s tournament, the impact that it has created has been highly beneficial.

Following two successful years, this year’s contest is set to happen at the Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The maiden Kick Klassic back in 2021 had raised $150,000 for its purpose. Last year, a further $50,000 dollars was added to that figure. As said by LaJoie, the goal for 2023 is to raise upwards of $300,000. The proceeds are meant to go towards the work of the YMCA, Samaritan’s Feet, and NEGU, a nonprofit that provides support to kids fighting cancer.

As reported by Jordan Bianchi from The Athletic, LaJoie said, “It really has turned into one of my favorite days of the year,” LaJoie said, “I mean, there are some races—the Daytona 500, the Southern 500, the Bristol night race—that are like Christmas mornings, but so too is the Kickball Klassic. It’s just so fun to see how much fun everybody’s having. They bring their kids and families and just play a game that you’ve been playing since you were 7 years old.”

Other than a longlist of NASCAR drivers including Michael McDowell and Ryan Preece, insiders including Kyle Petty and reporter Bob Pockrass are set to be a part of the upcoming event too. The star-studded tournament will be a moment that brings the NASCAR community together and project their collective power toward creating a kinder world.
