There are or will be very few drivers who will tread the tracks of NASCAR like Jeff Gordon has. He is undeniably among the greatest racers that the world of stock car racing has ever witnessed. The Hall of Famer was one of the driving forces in raising the sport from being a niche and making it popular in the mainstream.
But one might as well argue that there have been and are other drivers who are bound to break the records. However, not everything can be judged on the parameters of numbers and statistics, as Gordon resides in a realm that seems not only unattainable by most drivers but also idiosyncratic to Gordon himself. And these aspects can surely be attested by his dear friend Mike Joy.

And one has to take the leap of faith to prove that they are headed in the right direction. Even Jeff Gordon had fallen victim to it when he was a child and briefly considered leaving racing for good.
According to a feature in Vault, the year Gordon turned 12 and was racing and traveling extensively, the young boy started to feel the burden of racing. He was burned out from the mounting pressure of racing and performing consistently. And at that point, Gordon took up waterskiing. It seems that he was a born athlete, as he exhibited remarkable results in that field as well and briefly considered leaving the world of racing.
