As we head into the new season, no team has expectations set higher for its Cup Series challenge than Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. And when we talk about the 2023 season, things were no different from the very start.
From having a delightful run to three victories with Chris Buescher in the #17 Mustang to Brad Keselowski finally making it into the playoffs after a dismal season in 2022, the recipe for success is slowly being perfected behind the scenes at RFK Racing. As the team prepares to enter the new season with the Busch Light clash, Keselowski reflected on the stellar season to further motivate the crew.

Brad Keselowski reflects on the 2023 Cup Series results to set the 2024 benchmark for RFK Racing
In a video shared on X by RFK Racing, Keselowski was addressing the crew during the team’s pre-clash meeting. And immediately, the team’s mentality was evident from the co-owner’s encouraging and positive thoughts. Without wasting any time, Keselowski shared, “I’m really grateful and thankful for everyone who made it possible for us to have all the progress we had.”
“I love seeing the stats because the stats don’t lie.”
At today’s pre-Clash team gathering, @keselowski reminded our group about the big gains we’ve made from 2022 ➡️ 2023, and how we can improve on that this year. Onward and upward 📈🫡 pic.twitter.com/ty3J5W1QNJ

The 39-year-old had some notes about the team’s performance in 2023 to share with the crew. Extending his gratitude to David Smith and his team for helping them collect the data, Keselowski painted a colorful picture of the team’s inspiring progress. Starting with the improvements in the average finishing position throughout the season, RFK Racing’s #6 car went from 25th on the grid in 2022 to tenth in 2023. And once we pair that with the #17’s rise from 22nd in 2022 to a 2nd average finish, Keselowski was a happy man.
He went on to further analyze, “The stage finishes, this one was probably one of the most remarkable. Went from an average stage finish of around 17th on the six car in 2022 to around 11th, so big gain there.
And it was even bigger on the 17 car, it went from an average stage finish of 26th to an average stage finish of 13th.” But that wasn’t all. Even the pit crew had something to cheer for.
Keselowski added that the average ranking in the overall numbers in 2022 was 14th for the #6 which grew to a substantial number, with the fourth average ranking in 2023. As for the #17 car, whilst the fain from 22nd to 16th wasn’t as impressive, Keselowski felt it was “some pretty good progress.” And also added the stats of race speed, which saw improvements on the #17 from seventeenth to eleventh, and the #6 car went from 19th to 12th.
Keselowski concluded the statistical analysis by sharing the qualifying data, “The last one is qualifying, and this one tells another good story. The six car went from qualifying in 2022 in 22nd average for the year to 12th, so a ten-place gain. And the 17th car went from seventeenth to thirteenth so, big gains across the board last year. I love seeing the stats because the stats don’t lie and those are some really great metrics. Now the question is, how do we do even more for 2024, right?”

While Keselowski made it clear what the question to be pondered upon was, the launch of RFK’s TeK Alliance could very well be the answer.
