The NASCAR community was met with heartbreaking news a few months ago when it was announced that the Winston Cup Museum would be shutting its doors forever after legal disputes with Winston Cigarette’s current rights holders, ITG Brands. Fortunately, it might not all be doom and gloom as the founder, Will Spencer, has decided to grant car enthusiasts the golden opportunity of bidding on some of the museum’s most iconic marvels.

The iconic auction house, Mecum Auto Auctions, has decided to include many memorabilia and other items for the auction held at Kissimmee, Florida this week. Not only can fans get a hand on helmets, suits, and other such equipment, but there will be 32 stock cars from NASCAR’s greatest era up for grabs too. Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic liveries available.

Kicking things off with the first lot, NASCAR’s 25th Anniversary Winston Show Car will make its way to the auction block in its dazzling red livery. The next lot will be a hot item since it’s the icon Dick Trickle’s Ford Thunderbird which he raced at Talladega Super Speedway in 1998, But the next car on the list will turn major heads owing to the lack of side panels! Driven by Clint Bowyer from 2006 to 2007, the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is also up for grabs.

But what if we told you there was an even more special car on auction in Florida this week? The official Car of Tomorrow from 2009 will be available for bidding on Lot U161.1, featuring a blue livery with the #1 on the side and also a rear spoiler. Not liking the dreamy blue in the CoT? Then the 2002 #36 Ken Schrader car with the iconic M&M’s livery will be right up your alley!

Amongst other noteworthy stock cars up for auction is the 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Darrell Waltrip in 1995-1996. This particular car preserves all the essence of the era as it’s presented in ‘as-raced condition’. The iconic DuPont livery 98’ #24 Monte Carlo driven by Jeff Gordon also makes for an attractive listing. But one car on this list may trump all others in terms of significance and value.

The community stands a chance to take home one of NASCAR’s most vital parts of its history after Dale Earnhardt’s 1995 Monte Carlo was listed as well. The Intimidator won five races that season with special ones coming at Sears Point and would also achieve one of his self-proclaimed ‘biggest’ race wins in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis in the very car up for auction in Florida.

While it is unfortunate that the Winston Cup Museum is closing its doors due to financial struggles, the 32 racing marvels will find the right homes for the future. But it isn’t just NASCAR history that is the highlight of Mecum’s grand auction. There are also noteworthy automotive icons such as Ford GT’s and classic Ferrari’s available during the auction. But how exactly can the community sign up and bid on the eye-catching stock cars?

For NASCAR fans, the day to be particularly mindful of is the last day of the auction on January 14th which is when the stock cars will make their way to the stage.
