NASCAR icon Tony Stewart, known for his achievements in NASCAR, IndyCar, and his own SRX Series, has recently expressed frustration with the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association), another one of his recent ventures. In a podcast interview, Stewart discussed his experience as a driver in the NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster class and highlighted his concerns about the lack of seat time in the sport. Tony Stewart Talks About His Frustration with NHRA
Stewart made his NHRA debut in 2022, driving a Top Alcohol Dragster for McPhillips Racing. Tony said that he gained valuable insights from the McPhillips family, who ran the team. They assisted him in overcoming initial challenges with the new car and made significant improvements.
In the ‘NASCAR Live’ podcast, talking to Steve Post, Stewart said, “I’ve been a little frustrated the last five weeks because I haven’t been in a car. But the three previous races of that I mean to win at Vegas, to runner-up at Charlotte, and to win the regional at Indy.”
Stewart here was talking about the recent times, about how he is not able to race as much as he would like to. However, that is not the only thing he is frustrated about.
He added, “I’m excited about where our programs at I mean, Rich McPhillips senior and junior, and the people that they put around us have done an amazing job in a short amount of time of figuring out a new car. I mean, there were things that were drastically wrong at the beginning of the year that they found, and it was frustrating.”

Tony Stewart Reveals How His Team Turned It Around
Stewart admitted that his team faced some difficulties at the beginning of the season, as the new car had some problems. He said, “It’s frustrating at Pomona. It’s frustrating Gainesville at the beginning of the season, but once they found a couple of key items that were wrong, the results have changed drastically.”
“And you know, the last race that I drove was the Indy regional, and the performance of that car there was unreal, so it’s made it extremely difficult to sit out for five weeks waiting on the next race that we have scheduled, which is you know, this past weekend.”
“So to get back in the car is was something that that was fun,” Stewart remarked.
