Watching motorsports in person is a unique experience altogether. NASCAR fans take time out of their hectic lives to witness the races. The thrill, the sound, and the mishaps all contribute to a lively experience of the race. But, have you ever wondered how much that experience is different as compared to sitting at home and watching the race on TV?

In a recent TheBubbaArmy interview, while discussing the different scenarios that can occur during a race, one of the hosts conferred that when all the cars are in proximity and in other crucial situations, TV cannot give you the experience that being present in person would give. But Tony Stewart and his 40 years of experience with motorsports have something else to confer, that could make NASCAR lose lots of money.

Chicago Street Race is scheduled for the first weekend of July’23. This is the first time NASCAR is organizing a street race that is highly anticipated to be a banger. It’ll display live performances from various known artists like The Chainsmokers, The Black Crowes, etc. A single ticket to watch the Chicago Street Race will start from $240. But it seems like Tony’s belief could mean losses for NASCAR on that weekend.

During the episode, Tony opened up about his views on watching a race on TV and in person. Stewart believed that “unless you’re there for the party, for the weekend, and you’re camping for the weekend, it is 10 times better to watch it on TV than be there in person.”

He is of the view that it’s a lot better to watch NASCAR races on TV than to be in the stands. Tony reasoned by saying, “You buy a ticket to the race and you get your seat. You can’t get down where the cars are in the pit area”

“NHRA, it is 10 times better to be at the event than it is to watch it on TV”

“you go to an NHRA race, when you buy your ticket, you go everywhere but on the starting line,” Tony concluded.

Tony’s view on watching NASCAR races on TV doesn’t seem to be affected by the hosts’ take. His interview could result in huge losses to NASCAR, but to what extent?
