During the NASCAR Playoffs race at Darlington, John Hunter Nemechek suffered a horrid time. The 23-year-old brought out the 6th caution of the race when he crashed into the wall. This forced him to retire from the race for good, making him the 4th retirement of the race.

Speaking to NBC, he summarised his miserable race weekend. Nemechek said, “That definitely wasn’t the way we wanted to end our night driving Elliott Sadler’s CITGARD throwback scheme.

“Our No. 38 Ford Mustang fired off pretty tight but then I got looser as the run went on and the sun set.”

What else did John Hunter Nemechek say about the race?

According to the driver, his team made some really good pit stops during the race. He also observed that Crew Chief Seth Barbour and the crew banded together to help give the car some good balance.

Sadly, his good run unraveled, owing to some miscommunication on the track in the final stage. As a result of that, Nemechek ended up in the wall.

He concluded, “I hate it for my guys because they’ve worked so hard all year and they never give up. We’ll reset this week at the shop and get ready for Richmond.”

Truthfully, John Hunter Nemechek has had a fairly decent run in just his rookie season. His best finish so far is an 8th place at the Talladega Speedway. That was just one of the two Top-10 finishes for the 23-year-old. But he has not let this loss get him down.

Now he will surely banish this poor finish from his mind and train his focus on the 2020 Cup Race at the Richmond Speedway. He has raced at Richmond before, in the Xfinity capacity, but this will mark his official Richmond debut in a Cup Series car.
