The video in question is a race-day promotional by FOX, which was aired on their broadcast of the same 2020 Daytona 500. It has been making the rounds of NASCAR’s subreddit. With fans of “The Great American Race” hyping it up just days before the 66th annual running of the event at Daytona Beach, FL. It was an account named ‘TexasCannibalCookout’ that shared the video on Reddit, with the caption: “It’s been four years since FOX put out the greatest Daytona 500 hype video of all time.”

Others approved the initial sentiment, with one Reddit user commenting, “Just watched that 6 times. Friggin awesome.” Another controversial yet simple comment read, “Some would say it’s been just as long since a decent broadcast too.”

While many had their views regarding their perceptions on the best ‘Daytona hype video’ ever, one hilarious comment stood out from the rest, “So cool. I’m gonna send it to all my friends that don’t give a cr*p about NASCAR. They’re still not gonna give a cr*p, but at least I will see the link to watch it again later.” 

Indeed. It is a very ‘cool’ video. However, the excitement for the Daytona 500 has reached a boiling point, and it is visible as the 2024 Cup Series season approaches in just a few short weeks. The race is set for Sunday, February 18, kicking this season off with its signature mix of drama and speed.

The intrigue surrounding the race increases further with the announcement of new entries by Legacy Motor Club and Front Row Motorsports. Jimmie Johnson, a seven-time Cup winner and two-time Daytona 500 winner, will drive the #84 Toyota for LMS, while Kaz Grala will be behind the wheel of the #36 Ford for FRM. David Ragan, Anthony Alfredo, and B. J. McLeod are already among the four non-charter entries that will compete for the final four spots. 

The battle for coveted positions on the starting grid intensifies as the Daytona 500 entry list expands with the inclusion of Johnson & Grala. With the usual thirty-six charter entries confirmed thus far, five non-charter vehicles will compete for the final four spots in the lineup.
