Weirdly, the 2023 season has started more or less the same way for Hendrick Motorsports as last season. A couple of cars finished inside the Top 10 at the Clash, Alex Bowman followed this by winning the pole for the Daytona 500 again this season, and this was followed by a mixed bag of results for HMS in the Great American Race. But now, heading into Fontana, HMS would hope Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott don’t execute a repeat of last year’s incident.

Last year, the star duo had a bit of a feud between themselves after one of them did the other dirty, leading to a lot of not-so-nice things being said on the radio.

Yes, it was when Larson didn’t see his teammate on his right, made a block, and left Elliott quite mad. In fact, the word “mad” is an understatement considering what he said on the radio.

“Stupid m*****f****r,” the #9 driver exclaimed about his teammate. “What the f**k is he doing man?”

NASCAR fans still hold Larson guilty for his move on Chase Elliott in Fontana

Back then, most of the fans had sympathized with Elliott and held Larson guilty for this whole incident. Now, a year later, it seems NASCAR fans still haven’t changed their opinion.

This was pretty clear from their reactions to a throwback post by NASCAR on NBC as fans jumped to call out Larson for his dirty driving and sided with Elliott as his race was ruined.

For Bowyer, one thing is clear: there can only be one No.1 on Rick Hendrick’s team.

“I believe the toughest rivalry that we have in our sport is right in between those walls at Hendrick Motorsports,” Clint Bowyer Clint Bowyer said. “It means owner Rick Hendrick and top lieutenant Jeff Gordon could have their hands full reminding the pair they work for the same team.”

“They both can’t be the No. 1 guy, and that’s a dangerous thing,” Bowyer added.
