NASCAR and guns have had an up-and-down relationship. The past had the iconic image of Tony Stewart shooting two six-shooters (filled with blanks) at the NRA 500 in Texas. But all that has changed over the last decade with all that has happened.

But changes to victory lane celebrations barely affect what a driver will choose to do in their personal life. Stewart and his wife, Leah Pruett, are both big fans of guns. A story Stewart shared on The Skinny Racing Podcast shows how the couple shares a love for guns.

Tony Stewart sets up something for his wife in Austin

He started by telling, “In the afternoon, Leah had an appearance for Dodge. I had plans to go to Austin on my own to meet with Jesse James, who I got a gun for Leah for her birthday because her birthday’s 6 days after mine.” 

“So we land in Austin, I’m like ‘You gotta be kidding me’. We’re in Austin, we’re going to be flying back to Houston. And I’m going to fly back to Austin again in the afternoon to go get her birthday present.”

Things started getting more interesting. “I had no idea that she was working on a birthday surprise of her own and had no idea where we were going. Some guy picks us up and we get in the car and we pull out of the airport. I look at the sky and ask, ‘So what do you do?’, trying to bait him into kinda getting a hint of where we’re going and what we were there for. But didn’t get anything out of this guy.”

The twist came as “We pull up to a gate and I’m reading all these rules. “No kids, no that, blah blah blah.” And at the bottom it said “JJFU,” and I’m like ‘You gotta be sh*tting me.’ Which is Jesse James Firearms Limited.” 

“She brought me to see Jesse James. I’m going to be leaving here to come back in the afternoon. But what I don’t realize is that Jesse’s been on this the whole time. Jesse not only knows what she has planned, he knows what I had planned. And he found a way to marry them together without either of us knowing what the other one was up to.”

What a hilarious story – both Stewart and Pruett wanted to surprise each other, and ended up getting surprised themselves!

Stewart continues narrating the story on the podcast. As the couple goes onto the property, he reveals what happened next.

He said, “Leah had Jesse made me – he has his cutlery division and Jesse makes some badass cutlery – this really cool pizza cutter. She had my name put on it. [And the name is?] The Pizza-cutioner. And the stand is in the shape of an old-school coffin that has a slot in it for the blade to sit in it. It’s exactly something you’d expect from Jesse James. It’s straight Jesse James, 100 percent.”

“We go upstairs and she gives me that while Jesse taps me on the shoulder and turns me around and hands me a box which has her gun in it. And I’m like ‘Aww, perfect!’ So I hand her her box. We have a dual birthday and go meet these guys, and we get on bikes and go ride to a barbecue place a half hour away that he likes.”

The couple has been married only about 2 years now. This goes on to show how much they both love each other and know each other. Very adorable!
