We recognize carnivore MD as the guru of a meat-based diet. And being a double-board certified doctor, he has some things to say about common foods. And according to him, Chia Seeds and Quinoa are not as healthy as we think, as he talks about them in conversation with Patrick.

The former racecar driver asked, “What about Chia Seeds?! I love Chia Seeds. They just put a little water in them and they plump up.” To which, Carnivore MD replied, “You know the Mucus around them? That’s there to prevent you from digesting it. That’s the Chia Seed defending themselves.”, “You just poop it right out. But the foods that you eat and poor right out, that’s not good for you.”

Apparently, the same applies to Quinoa, “You know Quinoa? You just poop it right out, you don’t digest it. It’s horrible”

But what makes them so horrible? Well, according to the Carnivore Diet proponent, the seeds contain phytic acid. And the only purpose of that acid is to prevent you from digesting it, so it can preserve it and stay intact. So, the seed maintains its form so when you excrete it out, the seed can still sprout into a plant. Because, of course, that’s the purpose of a seed.

But then, what is a better way to get the nutrients?

Sure, Carnivore MD could actually be right. But then how do you get the micronutrients? Especially Omega-3 which is responsible for most hormonal and blood functioning. Patrick was also curious about it.

Luckily, we have an answer, as MD said, “You can get plenty of Omega-3s from Meat, Butter, and eggs.”. Well, the school sure wasn’t lying when they taught us that Eggs and Milk are whole foods.
