In response to this, Curry admitted the connection people make between his birthplace and his involvement in past games against the Cavaliers, particularly with LeBron James. He found it meaningful to return to Akron, even though it was only his second visit since 1988.

He stated, “I get to come back here, is only my second time back since 1988, which is crazy. But it is special to even just be at this iconic place, Firestone, where there’s so much history in the game that’s been experienced here, and Tiger winning eight times. The shot he hit in the dark, and all the who’s who, the list of champions that have won here too. So, it is special for sure.”
