<h2>Golden State Warriors Franchise History</h2>
The franchise was founded in 1946 and was named the Philadelphia Warriors. Under the influence of the then-owner Peter A. Tyrrell, the organization saw its initial growth. It played a pivotal role in the formation of the Basketball Association of America. They won the championship in the inaugural campaign of the 1946-47 season. Following this, the Warriors again clinched the title in the 1955-56 campaign.

The team saw a change in ownership in 1962. The new owner, Franklin Mieuli, relocated the team to the San Francisco Bay Area. In what became a historical move, the franchise was rebranded with the name San Francisco Warriors. The team saw another ownership change soon, and they started playing the home games in Oakland. The historical moment happened in the 1971/72 season. They adopted the name of the Golden State Warriors and it remained ever since.
<h2>Golden State Warriors <b>Achievements and Wins</b></h2>
The team holds the third place when it comes to success in NBA history. They have seven championships to their name. Only the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers have more titles than the Dubs. They won their first two championships in the season 1946-47 and 1955-56, respectively. After that, though, they had to go through a two-decade-long trophyless time. They eventually returned to the winner's circle in the 1974-75 season. Legends like Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes played a crucial role in that return.

Significant challenges marked their following years. They had to wait for their moment to arrive and finally; it did. In the 2010s, they became a wildly successful side. The turning point came in the 2009 NBA draft. The Warriors made the decision to select a young Stephen Curry as their 7th overall pick. What followed changed the game of basketball as a whole, as well as the fate of the team forever.

The start was not easy for Curry. After facing injuries, his time on the court became limited. Since then, he quickly emerged as a basketball sensation. The Warriors' front office made astute moves to strengthen the roster. The Warriors appointment of NBA legend Steve Kerr as head coach. It changed the dynamic of the league ever since. Kerr was able to bring the best of Stephen on the floor alongside bringing others into action. The team's resurgence was driven by the dynamic duo of Curry and Klay Thompson. Along with the rise of Draymond Green as a top-tier defender, the team became a success. Kerr benefited from this as he employed smaller lineups. The organization put together a formidable team.

Soon Stephen won back-to-back MVP awards. Their rivalry with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2015 to 1018 gave birth to a new era in basketball. After adding Kevin Durant into the mix, the team won three out of four championships in that time. Since 2019, the squad struggled for a bit but soon recovered to win the 2022 NBA championship.

This nickname has an interesting origin story. It all started with a clever abbreviation where "Warriors" was shortened to "Ws". The current principal owner of the team is Joseph Steven Lacob, a successful entrepreneur. Joe's started as a minor shareholder in the Boston Celtics back in 2006. However, in 2010, Lacob, together with Peter Guber, took possession of the franchise from Chris Cohan. The partners took over the Warriors with a significant investment of $450 million. Lacob's ties with the squad go beyond being an owner.
