After Los Angeles Lakers’ abysmal 2-10 start to the season, Rob Pelinka decided to shake their roster mid-season to surround LeBron James and Anthony Davis with younger players. They split the Big 3 of Westbrook, James, and AD by trading Westbrook to the Utah Jazz and acquiring guard D’Angelo Russell in a 3-team deal. But their most effective trade of the season came with the Washington Wizards when they added Rui Hachimura to their roster by sending combo guard Kendrick Nunn to the Wizards.

The Lakers exit might have left a sour taste in Nunn’s mouth, as he has decided to cut ties with ex-teammate LeBron James’ agent and sign with Octagon Basketball.

After joining the Wizards, it seems like Nunn wants to forget all about his run with the Lakers as he has cut ties with Rich Paul’s agency Klutch Sports, and decided to sign with Octagon Basketball. Rich Paul is the agent of LeBron James, and his LA-based agency manages several NBA stars like Anthony Davis, Zach Lavine, and Draymond Green.

Octagon Basketball welcomed Nunn to their team in their latest tweet.

Apart from their latest addition, Octagon Sports also manages NBA stars Stephen Curry, Bam Adebayo, and Josh Giddey. So, it is safe to say that Nunn is in good hands.

Kendrick Nunn’s Lakers run was not what he expected

Kendrick Nunn had proved to be a decent role player and a consistent 15-point scorer earlier in his career with the Miami Heat.

But he has not been able to find his footing in the league after a knee injury in his third season. During his brief stint with the Lakers in the 2022 season, he had basically fallen out of Darvin Ham’s rotation, because he did not fit the roster on the floor. So, it was just a matter of time before the Lakers decided to cut ties with the 6’2 guard.

After falling to 13th place in the Western Conference, Lakers traded Nunn to the Washington Wizards along with future second-round picks to acquire 25-year-old Power Forward Rui Hachimura. Hachimura proved to be a pivotal piece in the Lakers’ playoff run to the Western Conference Finals, as he averaged 12.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in the 16 playoff games he played for the Lakers last season.

After his run in Miami, Nunn has been unable to find a permanent roster to fit in. Hopefully, this new signing and a new season with the Wizards will help him find a stable spot in the league.
