With tonight’s loss of 107-120 against the Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers will have finished their matchups with Sacramento for the regular season. And unfortunately for Purple & Gold, all these games have been a disappointment, as LA has lost every single one of them. Talking to the reporters post-game, Anthony Davis seems to provide a reason for the defeat.
According to the Lakers big man, “It’s hard to beat a team like the Kings when the Lakers are turning the ball over and giving up offensive rebounds at a high rate.”

Well, that might be so. But what has caught everyone’s fancy in tonight’s game is the one-on-one record between AD and Domantas Sabonis. With the season sweep tonight, Sabonis’s record against the 2020 champion stands at an impressive 10-0. Not once in the 12 years of Davis’ career has he beat the Lithuanian-American. The story continued tonight as well.
Ruling the paint, the 6’10 center finished the night with his 23rd triple-double of the year – 17 points, 10 assists, and 19 rebounds. It was also his 48th consecutive double-double. Not to mention, the second game where the 3x All-Star held “The Brow” to under 40% shooting. Talking about facing Sabonis, AD said, “He’s a physical player … Offensively, we try to limit him getting offensive rebounds. But he’s an All-Star, has been an All-Star. He’s a great player.”

But this season has seen AD healthier than ever and dominating the floor. Taking a look at the stats of the last 10 games, Davis has showcased his brilliance, shooting well above 50% from the field. Of course, that doesn’t include Sacramento. Davis has been held to just 38.7% FG in the two games vs the Kings this month. The 9x All-Star has a plus-minus of -37 against the “Beam City’ this season.
